I see alot of talk about these power valves. Someone posted that arctic cat assembled these valves in upsidedown from the factory. Does anyone know for sure if that is correct? Does anyone know for sure what way the beveled edge faces UP or DOWN? Again this is the 500 motor with the 1 piece valve. If you look at the parts book or browns leisure world page it looks to me that the bevel faces up. I hope some mechanic can clear up this question. Sounds like we should all check out our valves also. Thanks for any replies. :banghead: :banghead:

According to the 2002 Arctic cat Service CD...Section 2 Page 93......
#49: Slide the APV assemblies into position in the cylinders making sure that on the 500cc, The grooved sides are down; then slide the valve keepers into position and secure with cap screws (coated with blue loctite #242). Tighten to 0.9-1.3kg-m (6.5-9.5 ft-lb) on the 500cc other models.......
The [icture appears that the bevel is UP

What grooves? I look at the valves and I don't see one side having any more groves than the other.
I too have seen the instructions on how to put the valve in and the picture does make it look like the bevel is up. But that picture isn't very good(at least for me as I have a soft copy of it). There is a bevel on both sides of the valve, but one side has a larger bevel. I'm not sure what bevel I'm looking at when I look at the picture of the valve in the manual.
Somebody has to know which is the right way.

Bevel side down. When they are fully open it is the bevel in that creates the smooth top to the exhaust port
