I am flying into Gander on the 15th and staying till the 24th. Is there gonna be enough snow to possiably ride? If so anyplace to rent a decent sled?

There should be enough snow down for a ride, but it's usually on the west coast of the province that time of the year. Gander doesn't get much snow until the new year generally. If you head to Corner Brook or Stephenville, you'll find the good stuff.

As for renting a machine, I have no idea. Check out www.lewishillbillies.com and ask around there...lots of Central Newfoundland riders could answer your questions.

Thanks for the reply, I dont think i will much more west than Gander. I know Ill be going into St John's tho. Last time I was there was 4 yrs ago and in July and not much snow then....

Another Newfoundland resident here. By the looks of the weather on the Coast of Newfoundland there won't be any snow at all. It was 15 degrees here yesterday so theres no sign of snow yet. The weather is constanly fluctuating so it's hard to tell when the snow is going to fall.

okay who was it that said there wouldnt be enough snow on the ground to ride....
I got off the plane last nite to 12 ft piles at gander airport. and sleds riding thru the neighborhood today. Kind of made me jelous. so is there any place to rent a good sled around here???

Umm.. I'm not sure i head out around glenwood every year but the only place i know of is down in buchans. Check the yellow pages maybe?

I drove out to St John's today from Gander and there was quite a few sled tracks along the way, man was I wishing I could of put my sled in my suitcase....

Heading back to Gander on tuesday Mabey ill try and find a rental place once im back there...

Just call around the local dealerships. They usually rent sleds but dont advertise since most people in NF have their own sleds. And remember, you can ride anywhere in NF, just dont ride like an idiot.

i was skidooing in central just before christmas and there was a good bit of snow there
