For all the sledders that ride in fenelon falls to kinmount the city has new bylaws . As of this year they have a new curfew in effect on the rail trail and new speed limits. First is the curfew by law 2007-107 section 6.01 reads no person shall use the vrtc , including road access between the hours of 9:30 pm and 7:00 am unless by special permit . After reading this today all i have to say is wow the last time i was told that i had a curfew was from my mom and dad when i was a young kid. I feel sorry for all the resturants and store owners that have a hard time in the winter the city of kawartha mistakes has done it again.

I'm pretty sure this only applies to quads in the off season, as they are the only ones that have to use the road access when the swing bridge is open for the summer dunno.gif Personally I think KLSC opened up pandoras box when they went to bed with KATV, I have a KATV pass and love to quad in off season, but after seeing the nignogs out there on the rail line this summer (when the area is well populated), I think it was a bad decision for KLSC to be associated with them.

If that is the case they've lost a lot of money from me, roughly 2 to 4 meals and 2 to 4 fill ups a week, just from me and my son, usually were in group of 6 or more sleds, and most of the time going through there after 9 on our return trip.

I called this type of thing last year...it sucks but that's the new reality..the antis are winning

Would your OFSC trail pass be a special permit?

I am not trying to stir up a granola gang talk but here is my thoughts.

Lots of city folk are moving out to the country to get that piece and quiet without doing their homework.
"isn't that great we have a walking trail right behind our new house" not realizing that it is a multi purpose trail for sleds atv's horses and access to cottages for autos.

It is kind of like saying "frig I hate all the mud that the farmers bring on to the road from their fields" "it gets on my bmw sport ute"

If you want to live in the country there are a few things you have to deal with.
If you live in the city there are a few things you have to deal with.

Just my two.

I believe it's just a section by Cameron lake north of the park. That section can be "cut off" when the lake freezes and you take the lake and and get back on the rail line. The people who own those "cottages" along that section have been trying to have access declined to sledders for years.

Unreal, boycott the CSer's in that town! Don't give them the time of day or more importantly YOUR MONEY!

I agree, i cant stand some of the people moving out around me. It doesnt take all of 30 secs to figure out they are new to the country/area.

an example is we have a local atv trail right by our farm i have been running the road from our farm to the trail since i first started riding well a new house was built on the end of the road and woudlnt you know it this summer some guy comes out onto his lawn yelling and screaming at me for riding my atv down the road. After that anytime i went out almost like clockwork after my ride or near the end id see a cop going down the road, my family has had the same farm over 50 years and the farm beside us was my grandparents farm which was in the family over a hundred years, we have been riding to that trail ( its rural farm road) since agian we were kids, then this new family from the city comes out thinking there top shit and causes this big deal. Move back to the city you wont be missed and you dont belong. Hell i used to wave everytime i saw the family before.

We just call them city fag's over here... then ignore them. They are usually too ignorant
to notice their surroundings and other people for long. Their attention span is so short,
or maybe they are just so consumed with themselves, they flit onto another topic so
fast it makes your head spin.

I still can't figure out how they are going to put up a windmill "farm" south of 7?

One more example of city folk moving to the country because it isn't like the city and then trying to make it more like the city.
Do a drive by and fire off a few rounds once in a while so they feel more at home. uzi.gif

C"mon guys! Where"s your country hospitality and show these people from the city some of the nature the country has to offer. Go and get some cheap cans of tuna n salmon and open them up and leave a few near their house or garage/shed. Also some bacon grease will help and let them deal with the racoons, skunks and hopefully some bears.

I volunteer at a local fair and I have to laugh when I hear some cidiots saying "Eeeew it's stinks in there" when walking thru a livestock barn. LOL! What the hell did you expect it to smell like, pot pouri? Yuppie dumb asses.

We get a chuckle out of the ones that ask to come up to our camp in the summer. They all sleep in tents or in our screened gazebo and we make a point of talking about wolves and bears around the fire and it"s not too hard to figure out who did"nt sleep much. Also it seems they"re afraid to use the outhouse thinking somethings going to bite their ass. lol

Im a city guy, but i have a cottage up north, ive been going there since i was 3, and some of the things i see up there are pretty retarded, sometimes theres cops sitting on the road waiting for people to snowmobile by to get to the trail...its on the other side of the lake, and when lakes rnt frozen and people wana ride, how the hell do they expect them to get to the trails...now part of the reason they sit there is for those people who are piped, im 17, i love the sound of those piped sleds when they puddle jump and u can hear the echo across the lake, but when you have them screaming by all day long, it kind of gets annoying, i personally think that it should be for race use only..not trail riding, it doesnt make snowmobiling look good with them on.

You know, i agree with you. When i ride local we always stop in Fenelon for something to eat and fuel. There is about 4 or 5 of us regularly. So how much revenue is that taking away from local business up there if we decide to boycott?! I'm sure there are hundreds of groups that go through on their way to Hali on the weekends. I'm sure the local business wouldn't like that curfew!! Bunch of BS if you ask me!! wc.gif
DavidN
ya that gas station in fenelon across from the tim hortons/texas burger gets LOADS of business from sledders.. always a lineup there..
FreezerBurnt
Lets remember even some locals do not like sleds it is not only the new guy

And it's not like the Volvo/Saab new gen cottage crowd shops up there either, they Costco up their little utility trailers before they go Granola bound for the weekend.

I'lll never forget the guy that built next to my Mom and Dads place on the Burnt River, not one contractor was local, every single one was from the big smoke. They didn't even let their kids ride their bikes up to the General Store, for all us kids who grew up with cottages there that was a once a day ritual ... A bottle of pop out of the old pop cooler out front (the ones with the bottle opener that would drop the caps down the shute) then a bag of chips and some penny candy. The new neighbours kids couldn't go past the drive way (out of parental fear) ...... trail mix and juice with out red dye #9 was the high light of their weekend ........... and that was 30 years ago blink.gif
killer
it's going to get worse too with the boomers just starting to hit retirement now...

one piece of advice is they better put up a damn good roadblock with signs or there WILL be tresspassers! not advocating, just stating the facts.

I grew up downtown Toronto, but have spent a lot of time in the country and in the bush.. you learn to appreciate nature and the outdoors/country life when you spend 2 weeks in the same pair of shorts and living off rice and red river cereal...

my parents grew up the same way so they had no problems shipping me off to camp at age 7, and I find so many parents nowadays dont want to let their kids go anywhere... I recently had dinner with a nice couple who are recent cottage owners.. doctor in T.O. great people, but they would be the audi wagon people with the granola filled thule rack from costco... they announced that their 10 year old was on his first sleep over....

I was doing week long canoe trips at 11 and away from home for a month... riding my own sled (340 lol)

I know I'm an anomoly in the shitty though.. I love it and hate it, but I feel the same way about some of the people moving north.

this is very true.. Haliburton area in particular has always had a very strong "granola" and ultra liberal "artsy" demographic.. so have many other communities, and some of the locals up there are downright mean and nasty, where the weekend warriors are just ignorant.

times are going to change that's for sure.
