On my 04 ZR900 my sled acts like I am running out of gas after 75 miles or so. When I filled my sled up I took seven gallons of gas. I should have about four gallons left to use in the sled. Any ideas on what is going on in my gas tank??? I need to figure this out before I get to Canada this month!!! frech11.gif

Maybe there's a hole in the gas line inside the tank. There's a length of line inside between where the line enters the tank, and the "smart" valve. The smart valve is essentially the fuel pickup. There have been problems with those things too. Better take it to the dealer and have him check it. You could inadvertantly lean it out and burn it down.

Does it completely die or does it start to bog down?

:beer2: Well it runs but cuts out. Then it might run for a bit and then cut out again. When I say cuts out I mean it is still running but bearly idles and wont move. Like it is running out of gas. Also you can hear the fuel pump wining inside of the tank. Any other ideas?? flag_usa.gif flag_canada.gif

Like I was saying, sounds like a smart valve problem. When you hear the pump whining, it's either being starved for gas, or cavitating air from a hole in the line. If it were mine I'd take it to the dealer. You can pull the line out and pressure test it. Also, if there is Ice in the tank, it will clog the fine mesh in the smart valve. I see you're in western Ma. too. Where at? Who's your dealer?
