Full Version: Primary clutch weight XF 800

Ok so I see that the 08 800's have a heavier weight on the primary clutch and I am sure I have read somewhere on here that it is a good idea to use a heavier weight on the 07 800 primary clutch.

My questions are:

1) What will the heavier weight do?
2) What is required or how do you change the stock weight with the heavier weights.....a how too, any special tools, important notes, etc?

Thanks in advance!

heavier weights load the engine the more and keep in the power band you want. i have 75 grams in for 2200' at home in my 800. but i have 77's and will throw them in after and see how the engine responds.

you need basic hand tools and sockets/rachet, allen wrench set, small butane torch, and a pry bar.

first loosen the bolt that goes thru the weight, heat the set screw on the weight for a minute, then take out set screw, then take prybar and pry between the back side of the spider and moveable sheave to move the weights from spider. then keep the bar pried in there while you take out the bolt and weight and replace with whatever weight you want.

or instead of prying, you should have a removable side panel, then just take the 6 bolts out from the outer cover of the primary clutch then remove spring then you can just move the moveable with your hand to any position you want.
