so i am having a time of my life trying to find the same exact steering assembly for my 98 indy 500! i found one that is similar but not exactly the same. was curious if any one knew if i could make it work off an 00 xc 700. my indy steering bar is 17" end to end, the xc 700 is 16" end to end. xc tie rods are 11" end to end with no heims my indy tie rods are 10" end to end w/o heims.

i have pics of both setups, the bottom pic is mine the top will be 00 xc 700.

i am not looking for perfection, i am basically using my ifs off my 95 xcr so it is going to be kind of a Frankenstein setup. i am using the lower rods, and the ifs arms, from the 95 xcr because they measure the same, and my crc steering assembly (maybe upper radius arms if have to) off the 98 indy 500. my upper radius arms are usable but would love to replace them while i am at it.

so can i use this steering assembly? will i be able connect the tie rod from the steering stem to the pitman assembly? off the xc 700? From what i can see it looks like the pitman locations are reversed ? well any help is appreciated please let me know!

It sounds to me that you are causing you're self a bad head ache...... I would try to find the original replacement parts... A good place to check them out is alssnowmobileparts.com... Its a good place to find parts like that or I would try denniskirk.com.
You will save alot of time and frustration
