I have a 2001 edgex and my brake lights want to not turn off and they just stay on all the time.
when i pull the brake, they are already on and dont do a thing.
when im not touching the brake, they are still always on.
the parking brake was broken off at one point and i dont know if that was causing it or not.
tips?
thanks.

i would remove the seat and get a voltmeter and hook it up the the tail light conector from the main wiring harness and hit the brake, this will tell you if its the wiring from the sled or within the seat...

Do the running lights work for your tail lights? Take the tail light cover off and see if both filaments are glowing. Wire could have shorted out. I think the brake switch is sticking or shorted.

thanks.
ill try that.
but last night the switch behind the brake ,which i dont know what it leads to whether thats it or not, was not getting pushed in all of the way if i just let off the brake.
If i pushed the brake back it would push the switch in all of the way and make a little "click".
Im not sure but i will try to take pictures of it so i can show you what i mean if you dont understand it.
But tonight i have to get gas to be able to actually test thebrake out.
thanks.

You could also disconnect the connector at the brake switch. If the light goes out then the switch is the problem. If they stay on then it's shorted somewhere down the line. It could even be a bad bulb.

Thanks for the help guys but i figured it out finally.
It was the brake not hitting the switch hard enough for it to sense that it wasnt on.
so i just had to take a dab of epoxy and put it on the brake so it would hit the switch hard enough,
thanks again for the help!!
