Give me a few comments, good and bad, about my treestand.
I couldn't find much info about building treestands, so this is my effort.
I have a few good 40-50 yard lanes for shooting, but you can barely see past 80 yards in any direction.
Thanks.

Are there deer in the area? I would start there when choosing a spot.....find a run or where there are traveling to and from

I never have used a tree stand before and I HOPE I picked out a good spot. I think I did, but I have been wrong before.
There are lots of deer paths around . About 2 months ago, I borrowed a trail cam for 2 weeks and it took about 25 pics. They had plenty of deer on them, but no big racks to brag about.
I'm going to thin a few trees out for next year and plant some clover and other deer food.
Facing south and east of the stand, the land drops off about 20 feet towards a small creek.
There is plenty of deer scat all over the property.

If you find a heavily used trail, set your treestand 20 or so yards off of it, wait for the deer to come, and bam, dead deer.

deer also tend to follow creeks like that, id set up closer to the creek... they also like ridges, you said the land drops off 20 feet...just my opinion...

Save the hard work and buy nice climber or hang-on stand. It took me a while to warm up to the thought of using a climbing treestand but they have come down in price considerably!
