I just picked up a used sled. I got a 01 XC SP EDGE 600. Engine was rebuilt about 400 miles ago, it runs great. Runs so good that it wont shut off. I hit the kill switch and it keeps running. I can tun the key off and pull it out and it keeps running. I have to pull the plugs to get it to turn off.

Anyone ever had that problem? I'm hoping I can narrow down my problem list before I start troubleshooting. Could it be a bad ground?

Any help or advise would be great!

Thanks!!!!

Check behind the ignition switch- Chances are the wiring harness is not plugged in. As for the kill switch, remove the handle bar pad and check to see if it plugged in. If they are unplugged just plug them in and your problem should be solved. Easy fix..

I had this problem with my 2004 Pro x. Had to get a new wire harness cause some of the wires were corroded.
Also to shut it off the choke will usually do it.

All good suggestions. Here's another: If during engine rebuild, the stator was removed, check to see if the brown wire from the shutoff circuit was damaged, disconnected/not reconnected at the stator. This wire grounds the CDI and shuts off the ignition via the black/white wire from the CDI plug mentioned by XCR1250. A simple continuity test on this wire should ascertain this.
