I have a 2003 Pro-X Racer that I am putting a 99 non-ves 700 motor into. I have a set of Slp twin pipes that I am going to be running. I was just wondering what a good set up would befor my clutching? I’ve been looking at every other post I can find and it seems like the 420719 helix is the most recommended. Would this also be good for my setup? What should I use for springs and weights? I don’t have any experience with clutching so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also does anyone know the angles on the 420719 helix are?
Thanks for the help.

719 will have to much finish angle for that motor with twin pipes. If your going to run it with a team secondary I would try a stock 700 helix from a 2003 prox . you dont want to load down a twin piped sled like you would a single . Are you going to use the tm-40 rack carbs or oem 99 Kehin carbs?

I'm going to use the carbs that came stock on the 700 for now.

the TM-40 carbs off a 700 xc or prox 2003~2005 would be my first choice with a factory airbox gutted. the TM carbs run much better and respond much faster.

I'm with xc-mark, the Flat slide 40s are a real nice upgrade. Put a set on a twin piped '98 last winter. Don't use the boost bottle with the flat slides if you have one. Which fuel pump are you going to use. The one for the non-ves (at least the '98 anyway) has a one line going to each carb. We had to tee them together and send one line to the rack. Use the '03 fuel pump if you do decide to run the TM 40s and still have it.

Can anyone give me some tips on clutching? I've got to get the parts ordered and I still have no idea what I’m going to need? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I personally don't think the 719 will have too much finish angle...it still finishes at 42*, just like the stocker does for the 700 ProX. FWIW, a buddy of mine used to run a 66/44.46 helix w/ 64 gm weights w/ his twin piped 700VES and it ran very well. Motor turned 8000 rpm and would run down 800s with ease. With that said, a stocker 700 ProX helix would still work very well, and would be more forgiving in changing conditions.

red/black secondary spring, almond primary, 10-62 weights, and as mentioned, either a stock 700 helix, or the 420719, on the shallow angle. I believe it will pull it ok. Gear no higher than 24/40 ratio though.
