Nov 5 2007, 11:39 AM
I will be there. Was out testing the sled yesterday in the fields. I'll have a 1998 XC 600 and possibly a banshee.
What's everyone bringing?

any idea of the sled classes?

Nov 5 2007, 02:03 PM
No idea for sure but, as far as I know I was told by cc class unless there is a poor turnout and they have to group sleds.

We'll be bringing my 600 srx triple, and if we have enough help, I will also be running my brothers 700 srx triple.
Let me know about the classes. Its not far from us, so we're probably going to come no matter what.
One question though.. do they have the portatree timing system and the lights?

HCS showdown...

I'll be on the 600 for sure, bringing the 700 along, don't know if I'm running that yet.

I'm ready for an HCS showdown
I'm assuming they aren't cancelling the races, despite the rain/snow crap we were getting last night/today??
I'm sure you'll clean up RC224, you'll have to bring that 600 out on my turf (aka H20)

Click to view attachmentWe called up this afternoon with a few questions.. and everything is a go.
So far, if I don't change my mind yet, i'm running 600 stock and mod and 700 stock with my 600.. then I'm running 800 stock with the 700.

Oh, and theres no single or multi classes.. so there will be an HCS showdown.

My srx would sink in the water.. its a brick lol.

I won 600 stock. I scratched 700 and 800 stock because the shutdown was wayy too short for us bigger sleds. I didn't run the 700, not enough experience on it and scared I wasn't going to get it stopped. The other part of our team that we were with won 700 stock and the 800 and up class with a 700 srx stocker.
I took 4 passes... enough for me on that track. I would be halfway down the track thinking about how I was goin to get stopped. Most people said it wasn't bad.. yeah, they had their trail sleds with hyfaxes and carbides that drag and hold back. I have a sled with a shit load of wheelkits, shaved hyfaxes, and flat skags. It scared me the first run, the grass was frosted and the tail end was kicking around on me when I was trying to get stopped. I found a gap between the 2 tree lines and I would go inbetween them, bypassing the haybails.
Never got to run against artiksno340, he got beat twice before I got to run him. I beat a Nytro in the finals.

I didn't exactly have my A game on today. It was my first experience with a tree light; I'm used to snap lines and flags. My first loss was actually to Stretch800's dad. My sled was running great (big time driver error on my part). If I wasn't sleeping on the line we might have had a chance to race Whit.
It was great to meet everyone.
Those were the first official grass drags I've ever been at. Can't wait for more, I'll be a little more prepared next time with appropriate gearing and such.
Congrats to RacingChick224 and Stretch800 on their awesome performances today!

Thanks! I actually didn't get to see you run at all, you were either after me or in the other bracket, and I was always running around being with the other half of our team today. I should have kept in 700 stock, I got used to smashing the brakes at the end after a while and I think I could have got my brothers 700 stopped.. but I wasn't going to risk it. I don't know if we were allowed to be behind that tree line, but that was the only way I was going to get stopped because my sled doesn't turn and I don't want to lock it up and roll it.
It was fun though.. last race of the season for me.. ending it on a good note.

Hats off to the owners of Trout Pond for hosting a great day of events. A big thanks also to Ernie, Dave and the rest of the crew from the Cycle Barn that put this all together. I had a blast even though my sled was acting up most of the time. I was able to post a second in the 800 and under class. My guess is an electrical problem some place???? Nice win RC224 was hoping we would be able to line them up but I guess we will just have to wait till next year. Not sure if that was your dad that took a pic of me in staging or not but if it was could you forward or post it for me? Thanks

Thanks.. I scratched the 700 and 800 classes, otherwise I would have been probably running you. Everything was a bit too dangerous for me, especially shutdown. I had my hands full with one class. Maybe next year at Chickaree.

Yup, my dad took pictures of you leaving the line and in staging.. he absolutely loves your sled. He said it is the nicest and cleanest looking firecat he's seen in a long time. Hats off.

Once we get the film developed, I will post them for you. I hope you find your electrical problem and get that fixed before the snow flies.

Tell your dad that I said thanks. I took the seat and the gas tank off last night to check all of the wires. Have not found anything yet but only spent time taking it apart not troubleshooting. I am sure it is something simple. THINK SNOW!!!!

We're going to start sometime soon on getting my srx back to trail settings. I'm letting most of the suspension go, and I'm riding with the speed track/ chisel combo because I'm restudding it anyhow for next season. After this winter, its not going to be trail ridden and we're going to strip it down to full race prep. I'm wanting another tenth or two out of it before I attempt haydays. My next seasons goals are to win the amatuer bashmaster at the snow bash if my class is part of the bashmaster series.
I finished out the season strong with 4 class wins in a row.

My dad thought of something for you to check. Throttle override system (TORS). When a throttle sticks, this overrides it and brings the rpm's down to like 3 grand. This can make your sled act wacky. It made my srx act like it was fouling plugs.. until we noticed this was causing it. Its located near the throttle obviously. We don't know how to fix it.. since we just unplugged mine for now. Just something to check.
I got this info from the srx 700 manuel.. so this is what they call it.

Thats what someone said from the Cylce Barn. I will have to check that out. It makes sense cause that is what it was doing going down the track. It acts like it is droping a cylinder but the motor is ok on compression and the plugs looked pretty good. Thanks for the tip! Where do you normally ride here in Pa?

We ride up in potter and tioga.. we rent the cabin at ole bull state park for a week in january and ride our hearts out.. then when there's snow and groomed trails, we go to a place called Mile Run that isn't too far from my house.. its a pretty nice sized trail system up there.
Here's some pics from the race.. I edited one of you launching and tried to zoom it in.. these aren't digital pictures, so they aren't the best. We carry a cheapy camera in our pockets when running around at the races instead of my digital camera that I don't want broken or scratched.

My sled was a little rich.. as you can see it smoked on the leave. We jetted one step richer for this weekend, because the weatherman said that it was supposed to be mid 40's and cool. It ended up getting hotter than we thought.. I was taking tape off the hood vents throughout the day.

Nice pics!!!! Thanks RC224, I will finally have a pic of something that so many people can't seem to picture. Ever tell anybody you were out drag racing snowmobiles and they asked you if it was in snow? In october/November in central Pa. Cracks me up.
I live about 20 min. from Mile Run but don't ride there very often. Nice trails when we have snow.
Thanks again.

Why of course. The first race i ever ran on the grass with the snopro in 2005 at chickaree was in july. 102 degrees out.. heck yeah. Won bracket that time too. Here's a pic of that day actually.. first race on the sled.. slowest one basically in the bracket. The guy I raced the snopro for thought it was great.. especially since I know how to run bracket.
Click to view attachmentEveryone is just dumbfounded how we can actually do that.. and my one teacher I had in 8th grade didn't believe me that I raced snowmobiles on the grass.. his reason was because it is impossible and he told me straight to my face that girls can't race. I was about to sock him one.. whew that got to me. I showed him a picture since he wanted proof.. and he said that I printed that off the internet from somewhere else. What a jerk.
The thick of my season is September.. I ran every weekend in september except the first weekend because I had a volleyball tourney.. otherwise I would have been running.
