Full Version: XCR-Edge Conversion Tank Outlet/Shutoff Size

Did any of the 700/800 twins have a 90 degree shut off? I know the XCR did. The XCR's use a 3/8 valve where the twins used a 5/16 valve but I can't tell from the diagrams if the twins had a 90 degree shutoff. I measured both my outlet where it comes out of the tank and the shutoff and the ID on both is .270 so they should be the same size whether it's 5/16 or 3/8. All the lines are 3/8 up until the fuel pump which is good. Anybody happen to know what the ID is on a XCR fuel pump or tank outlet? I'm guessing they're both 3/8 but want to make sure.

Thanks!

Anybody have the part # on the bigger tank vent? Everything that I've looked up from 600-800 twins to the XCR all have the same 1/8" 90 degree fitting. I thought I read there was a bigger one that should be used?

I figured out the tank outlet and the shutoff. I should have thought of this earlier but neither one fit the 5/16 line going to the carbs so that must make them 3/8. Still not sure about the different tank vent though. I can't find a different one in the parts diagrams.

Here is what I ended up using the I bought the XCR Tank Vent. The XCR tank Fuel Outlet, 3/8's from the tank to the Fuel Pump.. then from the pump to 2 fuel shut off's to the carbs..

Kinda hard to see.. but they worked out good..

That's a nice setup you've got Roger. Maybe it's my diagrams but I don't see a difference in tank vents?

XCR 800:

They both have the same 7052095 fitting and same line coming from the fitting don't they? i_need_snow.gif

hmmm for some reason I can't pull up any parts pix from any sites..

anyway.. there was a post over last winter that talked about a slight different size in the vent fittings

I wana say the xc was fitted with a 1/16th and the xcr was an 1/8th

I'll see if I can dig up the post and the part #'s

from what I remember there was an issue @ wfo that the vent wasn't large enough to allow enough fuel to get
delivered thru the pump to the carbs.. something to that effect..

I also remember speaking with Rob Schooping @ HTG about this and he said there was no issue that he
saw but also stated could be because he runs lectron carbs I also don't think the other big CC edge Sleds
don't have the issue either also cause the may run some other carbs like Carankshops or other
so the guys that run the stock carbs maybe affected.. guess we will see.. not too difficult to pull the
complete fitting out if the sled hit a wall at topend to see if there is a difference

yep they are both 1/8th... need to dig up the post

I think I remember reading a post pretty similar to what you are describing with the issue running at wfo, just couldn't find a part number for the bigger vent. I've got my gas tank out, I'll try and figure out the size of the hole with a drill bit.

Does anybody have one of the "bigger" vents they could measure the outside diameter of the nipple for me so I can compare it to what I've got? If not I'll just try what I've got, hoping to get the tank back on tomorrow or the next day.

THANKS!!!

I find it very hard to beleave that the size of the vent is going to be any issue at all, just so long as it's not plugged or pinched off under the steering hoop like alot of them were ! The volume of fuel used during wfo should easily be replaced by the vented air .
