While putting everything back together after installing my new weights a spring, I broke off one of the post bolts? I tried to extract it, not happening.
Could I just tap the first inch (that currently does not have threads) and put a bit shorter bolt in it?
Need advice please.

sorry "extract" wasn't clear... Yes I drilled then tried an "easyout" or what we call it here"extraction bit" ... its mess in there now... i think the only way to do it now is tap the frist inch anf use a shorter bolt, can anyone see problems with that? the only issue I would think would be balance? but since there is a bolt stuc in there now, it shoud be very close.

Replace it if that thing lets go at 7700rpms your liable to loose a leg at the worst and at the least do damage to the crankshaft.

You should be able to take it to a machine shop, have them dill out the hole then weld it up and then re-drill and re-tap it back to original. It would be cheaper to do this then to replace it, and this should be just as good as new.

Arrrg. This is pissing me off big time. 99% done my sled and now I do something dumb like this....
any other ideas?
Its one bolt, I tried to drill it out and I think the drill slid to the left and started into the actual post. I just looked up the cost of a new front sheeve, its slightly under $200, ebay had full primary;s for 150 + shipping + broker fees... so 200 for me again. I'd consider this machine shop idea, is it a good idea?
PEEED OFF BIGTIME....so mad.

You don't need a machine shop -- at this point what do you have to lose but to keep trying to get that broken bolt out. Get access to a drill press rather than trying to drill it with a hand drill. With a good drill bit it should come out.

OK this thread can close....
I am absolutely amazed that the reaming I did on that hole didn't totally mess up everything.... I can get a bolt 1/2 in now threaded.... I'll just tap the hole and put some locktite on the bolt, should be good.... buy a couple new bolts and GOOD2GO
thanks for the help, i might have over reacted.

Nope I didn't over react.... was cleaning it up with the drill, and bang, the drill pops through the top of the post... I knew it wasn't straight in there....well thats a lesson , do not over tighen those post bolts. O well, Now I am looking for a used outside primary sheave.

Call Troy at RV Sports and just order a whole new uncalibrated clutch. They're really not that expensive.
Chris.

Troy might even be able to get you something out of A/C's salvage, some of the stuff out of there is just like new for allot less.

Put bullseyes in
Put new weights in Primary
Put new orange/white in Primary
Put new Orange in secondary
Put new helix in
Put shift assist in
Put 2.5 timing key in
took APVs out and cleaned
took DD out and cleaned
I was so close to just going for a dirt run in the back yard... then SNAP. ARrrgg.
Called the dealer, I can get a brand new outside sheave for cost (he's my neighbour) so that good, but its still a big cost after all taxes and shoit.

Hey Grizz,
Early last season I did the exact same thing. Had a heckof time trying to get the broken piece out. Tried everything. Even briek bits inside and an extractor too. What a mess. Ended up with a new sheave myself.
Not sure what botls you have on the clutch, but mine were silver in colour, almost looked like they were Zinc coated. Pain in butt to work with. I went and bought the updated bolts that are the gold coated colour. Muchsmoother in and out.
