Just wondering how everyone faired through the storm. Had a little wind and a lot of rain in HRM. No damage that I can see in our neighbourhood. Didn't even lose power here - then again, we're on the same section of the grid as the hospital (QE II), so it's about the best maintained area NSP has.

How were things in CB and the Valley?

Tha VAlley survived OK, A couple mojor power outages in some areas, NS power says it could be Tues Eve till all power is restored. We had a couple power burps that was just enough to have to reset all the clocks in the house. It was blowing HARD at 3 am , had to go out and tie the zipper closed on my portable shelter, and we lost one tree but it was weak from being hit with the backhoe one too many times(oooops). Other than that no real damage, couple downed trees and did see a guys trampoline sitting on top of his fence but that was it.

We had alot of wind and rain up here last night in the highlands. Lost power around 3 this morning and came back around 11 or so. Do you remember when we had Hurricane Juan hit us back in 2003? Well we had a good winter that year with a good amount of snow, So lets hope for the same this year with noel hitting us pretty hard.

Yes it was White Juan that winter ...so hope for a White Noel this season...it would be soo sweet.

Power out at 2 am last nite, back on at 10 pm tonite. Got a few trees down in the yard but nothing serious. Not alot of sleep though. Just caught a glimpse on the news, Prospect got hit pretty hard apparently.
Both container terminals lose containers in the wind. After Juan hit they had a couple they had to recover out of the Basin.

Our power got knocked out in the middle of the night. It came back on around 2pm yesterday just as I was about to unbox my newly purchased generator. D'oh.

Haven't heard about trails yet, but I would expect there to be a few washouts and blowdowns to fix up.

I've seen quite a bit of damage around Pictou County including my buddy's trailer seen here at Cranberry Campground in Lower Barneys River. I'm glad I took my trailer outta there for the winter. Others were blown off there blocks as well.

Lost power about 3 am. Sunday morning.
@#?*$ NS Power saying we'll have power back on by Tues. 11:30 pm.
Had to leave the house at 4 am. this morning to fly back to N. Alberta.
Phoned home tonight and the power is still not on.
Have seen wind a lot stronger than that and power restored quicker.
Too many cut-backs and too many band-aid solutions=NS Power!

Try getting Aliant to come out to fix your phone line if it goes south. They are way worse than NSPC, usually 3-4 days anyway, and that's without a natural disaster to contend with.

Thank god for generators grinning-smiley-023.gif

You're right.
I guess what they need is more competition.
It is harder being without power than a phone.... cell phones.
