never heard of using silicone for an exhaust can. the donut should seal fine. no mods or changes needed to clutching for just a can.

We've bought and used permatex copper high heat gasket maker silicone on my buddies summit exhaust. It's made for exhaust gaskets and what not, it didn't burn away or melt and it helped seal up a junky seal he had on there causing a backfire, I bet that is what they are talking about.

Most guys use the Ultra Copper with good results. SLP recommends the Ultra Black which is rated for 500 degrees but has the maximum oil resistance. I've been using the Ultra Black the last 5 years with good results. Either one will work fine.
