For Sale: Wifes 2000 ZL 500 efi w/ 482 miles.

We bought the sled new in 2002 as a 2 yr left over.
Sled is all black with thick green offset stripe down the hood, I think it is an excellent looking machine
72 Woody's studs(down the middle) w/ 6" Woody's runners.
Sled is perfect, no rust anywhere, not even pipe, can or manifold.
The black painted tunnel has no wear.
Sled was ridden by wife only, hence the 482 easy miles. I would truly say the sled is just broken in.
No rips, tears or even scratches for that matter, it is show room clean.
Track is perfect.
Comes w/ Cat cover and extra Woody's runners
Starts easily and runs awesome.
Always stored in heated garage, when not being ridden
Always stored properly, off the ground, greased, fuel stabilized and engine fogged
Only ridden up north, NH, ME and Canada
This is as close to new as the come, being that it was riddden.

2002 Triton Elite enclosed Trailer:

Alluminum tilt trailer.
Ski guides, Track mats, Tongue jack, spare tire carrier, light kit for the black cap on it.
Trailer has a few minor scratches nothing major at all.
Trailer is also in awesome shape.

I sold my sleds, this is the last of the lot, I was going to keep it but just don't have the time to ride and could use the space.
We have two young children now and will not be ridding again for at leats a few years.
I hate to see the stuff go but would like to see them being enjoyed by somebody as apposed to sitting here.
The slead has been run every season to ensure functionality, it has always performed perfectly.

This would make an awesome sled for anybody looking for a comfortable ride. It is basically the same as the ZR chasis with softer more trail compliant suspension. You could make the stock suspension work for upto an 180 lbs. rider in my opinion. The suspension is not calibrated for aggressive riding, not to say it could not be changed, it just isn't set that way currently. It has Ryde FX shocks all the way around which offer a really nice ride.
The efi has been perfect, I'm a carb guy but got my wife an efi sled so as to not have to worry about it, this thing runs flawlessly, super crisp and responsive always. The sled pulls hard upto about 85-90mph, stock clutching. Your not going to win any lake races but will have a pain free back after a long day of riding.

I'm asking $4500.00 for the package.
I will separate if somebody wants the sled. $3,000.00 for just the sled and everything that goes with it.
I have a line of people who want the trailer only.
I will not sell the trailer without selling the sled first.
I'm not looking for any trades.

Please call me with any questions at 908 892 2501

to the top

I've had a few inquiries but nothing serious.
Feel free to leave input, good or bad.

I'm sure most people would say the rpice is too high for the machine.
But If I compare it to the cheapest new machines, it is still less money and offers, in my opinion, a better all around platform.
It's much less money than the air-cooled stuff and offers a better suspension platform, more power, liquid cooling. I think the styling points are a bit dated but still very cool.

I'm open the thoughts

I think I wish NJ was closer to NB...

i think a might actually have 2 sets of woody's carbide runners.

just going through some stuff. i'm looking to get rid of what ever i have lingering.

Sorry to jump in but I have been looking for a 2000+ efi 500-600 sled for my boy and me this season. I have been all over the net between craigslist, ebay, Johndees and here and there steadily for 2 months. I was willing to pay $1800-$2100 for a low mileage 2000 efi esr sled. I ended up buying within two within a 30 mile radius. A 2000 580 zl efi esr with 2.3k for $1500 and a 2002 600 zl efi esr with 3.2k for $2200. Both perfect with up to date maintenace records from dealerships. For 3 grand for a 2000 sled people are/should be looking at F series sled with low mileage. Sorry just my opinion.

Never apologize for stating your opinion, I welcome and appreciate all feedback.
I have to say I'm a little perplexed though.

Where as I would not consider your machines high mileage machines especially for the year, they both have considerably more miles then what I'm selling, the lower mileage machine has almost 5 x's the number of miles, 4.6 x's to be exact and thats rounding my mileage up. Look at it percentage wise, you have 460% more miles then the machine I'm selling.

Numerically, if I multiply my asking price by the mileage percentage difference, using it as the only constant, I get the following; $3,000.00 divided by 460%(or 4.6) = $652.00 that said, using your logic , which i have to assume is paying a lower price equates to a better value, you paid quite a bit more then you should have, you should have paid $652.00 for your 580, taking strictly mileage into consideration. That's not taking into consideration wear and tear on all moving parts and chasis, but yours have 460% more time on them then mine, unless stuff has been replaced, then adjust accordingly.

Additionally, using your value logic, if I multiply my asking price by, again, the percentage difference between the miles on our respective machines, 3,000 x 460%= $13,800.00, now thats too much money.

As for the F series sleds, I owned one, and yes it was very fast, I had a 2004 F7 Firecat SnoPro.
I was never a fan of the way it handled, I came off a 2002 zr 600 cce le.
I truly love the way the the earlier chasis handles, I miss my 2002 600 cce dearly.

I even changed the shock set up on my fcat, to all dual rate springs, I added the limiter strap adjuster from grip-n-rip, I also added the grip-n-rip 4 wheel kit to the rear axel, I tried different skis and various set up's.
The sled handled much better then stock but still not as well as my zr.
Without the 4 wheel kit the fcats are a little "tippy", which I personally don't mind, and they have a high center of gravity.
The sabercats are bit more tame but still suffer from some of the similar symptoms.

They are awesome machines for the right rider.

The zl I'm selling is a basic machine, that is an all around great sled, not a racer but no slouch either.
I think the zl is a perfect machine for a less aggressive rider, I know it's a perfect family machine.
Again, it can be modified into a more aggressive machine, if that's your think, but stock it is a really nice cruiser with and awesome engine and efi.

I'm not saying I'm not flexible, I think between the new package of roetin studs, AD Boivin ets, and 2 sets of Woody' carbide runners, I'm throughing in about $500.00 worth of stuff. I feel what I'm offering is a fair value.

Sorry snochopper, I just thought some of the zr/zl guys would be a good group to put this in front of.
Snochopper
I dont want to come off like "the guy in charge" but its starting to look like the classifieds here, guess there isnt much more to discuss with these pre-vintage sleds we ride. Dont take it personally, hope you sell your sled, I just did pretty much the same thing with our Panther, finally someone who saw the value of it took it home.

looking for serious offers...

Still available.

Oh, and by the way, the gentelman who replied earlier about getting a great deal on machines he bought is looking for help on the zr/zl forum.

He has his undercarriage out replacing idler wheels / bearings.
He has a broken motor mount and misadjusted engine torqe stop.

I don't wish him any bad luck, as a matter of fact I replied to his post trying to help him.
I find it interesting though that by the time he is done fixing all of his issues, not knowing what others may lurk, he will probably be pretty close to what I'm asking for my machine, which needs no work at all.
