Yes there a few spots to Remain Anonymous, but we all lots of favs - do tell...

One of mine would be just heading out of Grand Marais... Heading up the hill (usually a mogel mindfield). Half way up... take a look back at Lake Superior. Once your on top theres an open area to play in the pow. Next stop... let everyone catch up at the "Y" sign and break out the map... should we hit the expressway or the swamper?

for me it is the Iron Range and Moose Lake area

Foothills State Forest

People I ride with are loggers and they know every new and old logging road and every trail that goes to every pound back there. You can ride all weekend and never cross your track.

Well for a couple of years now with the lack of snow and my family life, I found that my favorite riding spot has been on the track stand in my garage. Hopefully this year I will actually be able to have a favorite riding spot other than my garage. I'm so jealous of you guys. i_need_snow.gif

I'm kind of partial to the Iron Range. Love the hills around Orr and the sweeping corners/hill by Elephant Lake. We really enjoy Voyageurs National Park too. The trails around the area are always really good and seems like most of the people do a lot of lake running up there leaving the trails fairly clear.

My favorite is Cooke City, MT. Bottomless powder and awesome terrain!

Anywhere north of two Harbors

In Minnesota it would have to be the Park Rapids / Bemidji area. I grew up near Itasca State Park so much of the basis for my riding is in that area. Like everyplace, with the right snow conditions, your in the best place you can be. The wife and I have been doing a fair amount of riding heading north east out of DL. Trees are best.

My fave is the drifts on 55 just west of medina. I grew up close to there and have been bustin those drifts ever since I got a sled. My avatar pic and my video is that spot. Otherwise...Where ever the biggest fresh dump of snow is.

I have been trying to keep from going out west b/c I know I'll be hooked. My buddy is putting the pressure on super thick for this year.

BTW RWS, that motoski in your avatar was the first sled my family owned....what a piece! I het some drifts with it and the hood flew off; not to mention I almost burned the barn down when it back fired and blew the exhaust off and started a fire in the engine compartment. Thank god for that garbage can lid full of snow about 5ft away!

For Trail riden it would have to be the section of the northshore trail heading up the shore from the tomahawk trail up to around the devils track lake cutoff. There are alot of hills and drops, also its a pretty well maintained trail. Fast and fun!. After a good dump of snow we all have our fav's. Jdesign, if ya wanna find out the good ones up here your welcome to come up on a trip after a good storm and we'll show ya! Just not a public posting, we like to kind of keep those to the locals. thumbsup.png

We have a place near Hackensack, and going from there north seems to great ( when there is snow ) up through the Itasca State Park then east. Nice well maintained trail system well marked and fast. 50mph no big deal except for that damn Soo Line. Try to keep your thumb out of it there.

I notice that even with all the pictures I take, there are so many left untaken, you just have to get out and experience them, some I have to leave out there for that reason, 'cuz you can't really define it anyway you try.

On the family farm and surrounding land. Got over 25 miles on trails on it, but don't have anything to groom them with other then a Bearcat and a pair of mattresses and planks.

Last year I fell in love with the trails between Lake Vermilion and Cook. I like to stop at Fortune Bay for lunch (their snack bar is awesome) and The Landing for dinner. Awesome area, usually very smooth trails.

I agree, Vermilion area is awesome. You have the Casino, Bayview, Vermilion Club, Bench Warmers and The Landing to Ride too (Wayside for Breakfest). We will usually do different loops starting at my friends cabin on Mocassin Point Rd. on the lake and head to Ely, Babbit, Cook or Orr. We once started at Vermilion and rode to Lutsen on Friday, Sat. we headed to Grand Marais then up the Gunflint, and on Sunday headed back to Vermilion... 500 miles in a weekend. Pretty Hardcore especially the 20 mile stretch of waist deep mogals east of Babbit on the way home.
