Hi guys,

Bought a 01 XC700sp has elec start and rev with 7000 miles.

Very clean for year (actually was a lady driver)

Also has fox shocks and has the edge logo, is this a decent suspension? I weight 220 pounds (I know pretty hefty) any suspension tips?

Double front ski runners like new (any good)

Has a 7/8 track which I want to change pronto. Undecided weither I want a 121- 1.5 or purchase the trackusa 136 kit with 1.5 ( I've read about having to trim the track for the heat exchangers) Love to ride off trail and will be riding at occasions with some long tracks sleds.

Should I bother messing with clutching, gearing and jetting or just leave be and ride it like it is? ( It's an old sled, no intend on being competive with newer sleds (Rocket F7's)

I'm going to change the waterpump belt before the season starts.

Thanks in advance

Mike

For suspensin, get the shocks rebuilt, and the rear PPS shock revalved for your weight.

The double ski runners works decent at reducing darting on the trails but don't steer as good single runners. If you love to go off-trail and longtrack it, I'd recommend SLP Powder pro skis. They float 4x better than the stock skis and steers in conditions the stock skis only could dream of.

No need to trim the track if you get one that is already notched.

I'd gear it down some for the long track. Not sure what the 01 had for gearing, the 98-00 had 24-40.

the 136" kit from tracks usa is really a great kit , but there is a fdw things you should do with the kit. Cooling is a big issue on ALL edge LC sleds and the long track kit adds 10~15% more snow loss to the coolers so you need more surface area. get the 2002 xc 600 M-10 add on kit from your dealer , the kit cost $89.00. to install it on a 2001 you will need to remove your cooler strips and modify your rear cross over to exit up threw the tunnel via the holes that are behind the strips and block off the end of the strips where it currently crosses over inside the tunel near the snow flap. There is room under the stock seat to install the cooler kit on a 2001 , I did it to my 2001 xc 800. Run the longest snow flap poss this will help get the snow to the cooling system. No problem running a 1.5" track but if you stud it use double backers , tall nuts and dont put any studs on the outside of the driver holes...they will tear out!

Shock valveing must be firmed up , that PPS shock really should be changed out to a clicker if you ride hard but it could be revalved and get almost the same results.

Well, I didn't listen (slap) and ordered a 121 1.5 camoplast intense track on E-Bay for $369 cdn. Going to try the 121(1.5) for this season, if it doesn't work out. I'll sell purchase the extension kit.
