I am heading down to Killington Resort this weekend for a conference and was planning to hit the Long Trail Brewery. This got me wondering if there was any snowmobile trails that go near there...not for drinking but to get lunch only tomaatit.gif

I haven't been through there for a couple seasons now, but up until then, you absolutly could ride over to the brewery. You can gas up at the Mobile station right where 100a and rt4 meet too. The trails south of there, Plymouth, Shrewsbury, over to south Reading, etc are awesome. But midweek is best, obviously. One of the tour companies hits those trails a lot, and they get beat. A good ride is to unload in Shrewsbury, ride south to Tabor, around Okemo/Ludlow, and back up to Shrewsbury, with Bridgewater being an easy stop along the way.

Just like weatherman said! Still open right up to last year. I have gotten there both from the north (pittsfield) and the south(mount holley/okemo). It usually varies from year to year depending on how bad some of the sledders piss off the owner of Long Trail. It has been known to be shut off from time to time but has been open the past couple of years.

They did close that trail half way through the season maybe 3 years ago. I think there was an "incident". You had to take a little 1 lane goat path to get there but its worth it. Lunch and a Hit the Tree Ale, I mean Hit the Trail Ale!!!

Greetings guys, I will be renting a house in Bridgewater Corner this winter which is right ont he trail. Im a snowboarder / snowmobiler so I'm excited about the location. Anyway I wanted to know how much riding I really can do from the house since its on the Vast trail system. Are the trails around there decent? Do they connect with any larger trail systems that would allow me to put on like 100 , maybe 150 miles? I do have a trailer as well so I can bring it to other places, just wondering about leaving right from the house.

By the way, I ride an 06 Yamaha Apex and my buddy rides an 05 ported MXZ800. Look forward to seeing everyone out there!

Look at the VAST website for a map. Plenty of trails to hook up with.

Thanks, I do have those already. Anyone can read a map, its the firsthand knowledge of the condition of the trails and the upkeep that I'm more interested in.

Muchos Gracias!

I'll address both for you.

Yes, you can access the entire north american continent from your house. If the house is on a feeder trail, or on the corridor trail, you can ride some amazing area's. You also have the luxury of choosing your length. There are enough good loops there, so you can ride 50-200 miles in a day, and rarely take the same trail twice.

As for trail conditions, just post your question on here. Someeone will always update you. Although, I'll tell you this much, if ANYPLACE outside the NEK and Woodford is riding, it will be the central mts. Go north and ride Chittenden to Camels Hump - or go South and ride from Plymouth to Woodford.

You picked a good spot.

Pimp, thanks for the great reply. I was just up there this past weekend actually. Our house is about 500 yards down Rt. 100 after you turn onto it from Rt.4 at the Bridewater Country Store. The people we are renting it from already signed off allowing the Vast trail to go right through the property so Game ON! I am ridiculously pumped for the season.

I live in shrewsbury and ride just about every other night when theres snow that is. Theres one trail that comes from shrewsbury down ccc road which hits rte 100 you follow 100 for a short distance on the side of the road cross it then head up into plymouth .. or coolidge state park which ever you would like to call it. Your able to make a loop from your house if you can access that main trail I`m not sure where your feeder trail is or where it comes out. I know that area very well. You can make a 75 mile loop that brings you down into ludlow and back through belmont up into shrewsbury and back to your house.. for the most part its a good 2 hour loop usually not beaten too bad if you know when they groom or ride at night . Take drivebelt hill over to killington ski trails ride all night over there haha.. opps I didnt say that .. haha ..
