Anybody have anything good to say? I have read enough IP wining for the year. It's obvious no ones opinion of the town or the citizens is going to change based on the posts.

So, I can report the Fletcher Roughriders have 400 hours spent working on trails this year and field stakes are going to start going up today. We also have received our 2002 Tucker Terra and are looking forward to our first trip out. Anybody else have trail news to report?

You lucky bastages! You got a 2000! We make due with a new 1000, but some day soon we'll be able to acquire a 2000 for the Mt. sections I hope.

The roller is great for sticky heavy snow, but we learned the hard way it makes for lost snowcover in fluffy snow..it just blows it right off the sides like a plow...

Sounds like a great idea.Lets stop the bitching and hear about sledding. If you want bitching and complaining go to the New York board.Nice new groomer Mike. You guys are right on top of it.

I know some of the Stowe guys have been out putting up new bridges in the area. Can't wait for Dec. 15th!

I don't want to sit here and tell you guys stuff you might already know...but it's better to be told twice than not at all...

The Tuckers can't be used to "blade" unless you know for certain there's no chance of "hooking" the blade on something solid...if you do, and you're under power, the steering will break clean apart. The force of the machine is applied directly to the steering components..and you'll be SOL out on the trail if you blade into a stump under power...we've been there, done that..lol...

Tuckers look awesome, like they just came out of a sci-fi movie. I've heard both pro's and cons about them mechanicaly so I guess you either love'm or you don't. I never groomed so wouldn;t know but they do look great.

As for snowmobiling I feel I'm a little behind the 8 ball on getting the sleds ready. Walk by my sled all the time knowing the rear suspension has to be pulled, plus a bunch of other maintenance work. One of these days I'll get r done. Maybe a little snow will kick me in the ass...

Good idea. How about the trails. Is there any major re-routes this year in the NEK? A any logging re-routes? How about that bird habitat in the preserve? Is that done??? i_need_snow.gif

My hat is off to all of those working the groomers! Plus to all that maintain trails & bridges!

Sno-Bees and Thunderchickens have been out signing and making good progress,I havnt heard of any major rerouts anywhere local as of yet.

I am curious about the stowe/waterbury trails, were'nt there some closures last year? Also,is there a way around Montpelier this year? We havnt been able to do the Barre,Williamstown,Northfield,Waitsfield, waterbury, middlesex, montpelier, back to Barre loop for a while, and am woundering if this will be possible this year? I love riding the Camels hump area, but hate not being able to do a "loop",so we just dont go that way...

Anybody else get a new sled this year??

I wasnt getting worked up at all untill this morning, had a heavy frost on the truck.......BBbbbrrrr cold.gif i_need_snow.gif

You're not the only curious one. I have to wait and see a trail map for this season. There have been so many changes lately it's hard to keep up, especially after I took a few years off. New land owners, new construction, etc. have changed the trail system as I know it around Stowe. As far as I'm aware, you can't get to Waterbury from Stowe any more...at least that's how it was last year. As I understand it, our club president is talking to land owners to try and establish some trails. Things just aren't the way they used to be around here...

And the last I knew, you couldnt get from Montp. to Barre......... question.png

someone bought a piece of land that had 300"feet" of trail on it,and closed it......

Our club, The Mad River Ridge Runners has rebuilt 2 bridges so far this fall. One behind Harwood Union High School and one along the Mad River at the Turner Farm. Our trail system stretches from the Northfield Ridge to the Huntington Ridge and from center of Waitsfield to the supsension bridge on the Winooski River. Our trail system is relatively large and rugged and we still have 80 miles of trails to de-brush and sign by December 15.

We moved up from a 1993 2000 to a 2002 2000 so we know everyway to break a Tucker. But thanks for the advice. I've been in Tucker when we hooked a tree and broke the steering piston (I was the passenger).

The operators tell me that if I behave they will let me drive this year....I only broke it once last year.

Hey Mike.

Are you going over to Scott's tomorrow (Thurs) night?

We talked about finishing up some of the installation work on the groomer (GWB install, wiring harness front and rear for the Winch, and design the top sap line/brush guard rails).

I need to get a copy of the spreadsheet you have with the land owners so I can update the database I have. We need to remind everyone that the permission slips need to be returned to me ASAP, so I can update what we have and send a copy in to VAST.

I also have started re-writing the TMA/Member entry software application to accommodate the new TMA structure. I should have that done in the next week or so.

On a lighter note.... I had to start my machine this morning just to smell a little 2 cycle smoke. Three straight days of frost has my thumb twitching.

See Ya,

Bill

Mike-

The new rig looks AWESOME! Can't wait to see it on the trails this winter. Just wanted to say thanks for the great work you guys always do. Sorry I haven't been able to help out more lately. I've just been trying to tie up some loose ends before the snow flies! Thanks again.
