I was just wondering how many riders from the U.S. ride on Lake Metigoshe. Any one interested in meeting up on the lake New Years? Any bets on whether the border patrol shows up if we get a group of U.S. riders and Canadian riders to meet at the border in the middle of the lake. I wonder if we can have a bonfire on the line if we stay in our own countries? Could make for an interesting New Years Eve.

I've ridden in the area...here's GPS tracks displayed in Google Earth of where I rode.

I've ridden there as well. Our family had a cabin there for a # of years, so spent most of my time there when i was growing up. Boarder patrol was NEVER around. Can't imagine it would be any different in the winter as it was in the summer. As long as you enter the lake from your residing side it wasn't a problem. We used to take the boat over to the Canadian side to a little store every weekend to buy that "Canadian Taffy"....mmmm good!! frantics.gif

I've ridden up there several times myself. In fact, my wife and I rode up to Birchwood for supper one night last year and almost ran smack into a herd of deer on the lake in the dark. Scary! Never had trouble with the Border Patrol except for the time I rode my sled right up to a border marker to get a picture. No harm done, but I was told to ask permission first. Here's the pic.

We have been stopped riding our quads along the cut out but it was no problem, they knew someone was there and had to check it out. In the summer you can take your boat into the U.S. as long as you don't touch shore. In the winter the lake is considered land and we are stuck in our little Canadian corner. Allot of weekends there is a black 4x4 sitting on the lake watching the boarder. 90% of the lake is in the U.S., it sure would be nice to ride all of it.
