Been reading about how the steering is hard on these Fusions. I had a stock F7 last year and turning was a breeze. Rode my buddies rev with USI skis, they cornered nice, but took a lot of effort to steer. To me it felt like I didnt have a lot of control over the sled. Plan on studding it also

I havent rode the Fusion yet, its brand new. Basically, I am looking for a trail ski that corners good, doesnt dart, and steering is lighter. So, what would one suggest?

Slydog trail skis?

Stock skis with shapers?

Holtz spindles with stock skis and shapers?

any recommendations on what im looking for would be great!

On the 05-06 Fusions I owned I went with the shapers still alittle heavy in the steering, but
improved it greatly.
I should also add that I ran 192 woody's also.

I have Holtz spindles on mine. Up to and including last year, I ran Simmons skis with 6" Studboy shapers on both sides, but they're worn out now (12,000 or so miles), this year I have a set of USI X2's to try.

With the Holtz and Simmons, it railed around the corners, no darting on straight-aways, worked great... the Holt spindles improved both steering effort and handling, but the Simmons skis are still a little heavy to turn at low speeds.

The Simmons really were great, not certain why I decided to switch skis, just thought I'd give something else a whirl, never know what it's like until you try. Might be a cheap set of USI's in the HCS classifieds early in January!
