Here's a pic from my camera in Feb of 2006. It's a good size fisher (I think it's a big male) that's been around my camp for a couple of years. I've seen him a few times during the day too. He would look real nice mounted in the cabin, but I think I'll let him be for now...Until he starts putting a dent in my turkey population.

what would you trap him? Or can you shoot them there? No shooting them here in Maine..

The game commission has re-introduced fishers into PA in the last 4 years, I wonder if it has to do with your statement about the effect on turkey pop. PA has been trying to create a better deer herd and the turkey has been eating too much "deer" food. We really have LOTS of turkey in NorthEast PA. Coyotes packs that showed up 6 years ago only effected rabbit pop.

I've heard that they really put a dent in the turkeys. I was told they will climb into a tree that turkeys are roosting in, and grab them while they sleep!

I had one of those little bastards get into my cabin through the chimney when I was not there. Ripped down all curtains and chewed a hole through a half-split log door trying to get out. Sooty paw prints all over the damn place. Anything that was on a horizontal surface was knocked on to the floor. Absolute mess.

We trapped one and had it mounted with a weasel......

came accross a big one last weekend while riding. It was chasing a rabbit off trail. Once we came upon it, it changed its course and let the rabbit go. I think we saved the rabbit to live another day. Pretty cool watching this stuff take place in the outdoors. Just not the same watching it on tv.

There are a ton of them in MA. I have seen about a dozen fisher cats since I have been bowhunting, about 10 years. I actually have video of two of them fighting. The most god awful noise you will ever hear and them wrestling reminded me of the tazmanian devil cartoons the way they were spinning each other over. Almost as bad as it sounds when they get a hold of a rabbit. They are really cool to watch. One of the times I saw one, I watched one completely destroy a rotten log about 1 foot in diameter looking for a mouse or something.
