i need some advice from the experts. i have a short lug on my track (i'm not sure what size but it is short) and i spin excessively. i was speaking to a couple of guys this weekend who suggested that i would be very happy with a studded track. both for acceleration and braking. i run lakes a lot and it sounds like a great idea. the track is in excellent shape so i dont want to replace it. should i stud it? if so, how many? what type? what size? input is appreciated.

It all depends on the track lug size. If it is .88 or .92 you can get away with 1.0 stud.

Woody's and Studboy are good brands of studs, as for how many at least 144 with your 800.

is the track size embossed on the track or just measure whats left of the lugs? unfortunately my sled is at the cottage so i might get a chance to see it this weekend. i take it that i will not have to remove my track to do this correct? (fingers crossed).

dont need to take track off, just need to lift the back up so you can spin the track by hand for drilling and putting studs in. very easy process

Spend the 10 bucks and get a track drill too, also a stud pattern stencil - another 10 bucks. I used an air ratchet when I did mine and it made quick work of the install.

m2c.gif I would stud the center only. It's becoming the new thing. The outside ones are more prone to pull out. Woody's has some nice 144 center patterns and more center patterns. this is on a 121" track.

ok so i checked out my track last night. Bombardier track and measures at 7/8". and it is a 121 track.

Don't forget to change the tunnel protectors!!!!!!!!!!!! It is probably a .880 lug track 1" studs are a little on the short side I re-studded my track with 1.075 and it hooked up alot better. Keep the pattern in the middle like they said.

Go with 144 studs and the center stud pattern. You will love the difference it makes!!

Don't forget the tunnel protection. Very Very Important.
