Anyone know of a decent insurance company that is reasonable on their prices for full coverage on a 07 sled? Cheapiest I found so far is $700.00 a year wtf.gif

700 a year???? That seems insane. Try American Family.

My sled is covered under my parents homeowners and i think full coverage for the year was like $150-200, somewhere in there.

I've switched over to Progressive for the auto's and ATV. Coming from State Farm it was no comparison and the service has been much better too. I talked to a Progressive rep last spring when I added the ATV(so friggen cheap) and he indicated that they would soon cover snowmobiles. I haven't called yet because the sled hasn't come in but if it's anything like the ATV coverage it should be pretty reasonable.

I just got insurance from nationwide. Full coverage on 2 02 Polaris Edge x 600 was 400 a year. I about flip out because I was qouted last year from progressive 1300.00 a year. I told them to go and stick it!!! I only got one ride in last year up north, so I just went without insurance last year. I do have High risk insurance on my autos. That is the reason I had such a high qoute from progressive. Nationwide only charge around 100 more for high risk. It sure made my day when I got the qoute from Nationwide. Good luck finding cheap insurance.

I had Progressive then switch to my home owners (Citizens Insurance) for half the cost.

Schmitty,

See if you can find a local insurance agent the represents several companies and have them shop it for you. I was with Foremost on my 2005 Rx1 and they were rediculously high but at the time several of the insurance companies would not touch the 1000cc snowmobiles. I was just quoted $370 for my 07 Apex GT at State Farm but I know there are better deals then that if you shop around. I have my cars, house, boat, and snowmobiles on one policy and they are not bad on the whole package.

Unfortunately your age puts you at a disadvantage. Good Luck. Let us know what you find out.

I called around the other day and got quoted anywheres from $1100 a year to $300 a year for my 1000.. of course the wife has a major on her record so that doesn't help...some agents can work around that and some can not... is what I found out.

It really pays to shop for insurance.. it is amazing what you can find for price difference between companies and agents. and believe it, sometimes it's just a greedy agent looking for a sucker. don't automatically damn the company if you get a high quote. For example, in my area we have like 5 different agents who all sell american family and you will get 5 diffferent quotes too...

07 F1000 $350
03 F7 $239

I would at least get liability.. Sled wrecks can get into the millions. Wage garnishment would suck.

You are braver then I. I am not worried about the snowmobile loss. I am worried about getting sued and losing everything.

I have farmers ins. out of mapple groove and I only pay $169 o2 zr 600... it all based on your driving record and how many cc the sled has. I asked my agent what it would have cost me if I was to get my friends 03 f7 and he quoted me in at 430 for half yr.

Just got quotes from a Farmer's Insurance agent last night:

'01 Thundercat - $223/yr
'01 Pantera 1000 - "/"

Agent mentioned that Farmer's had recently bought Foremost Insurance....so the sleds would insured through Foremost.

Thought this was a good deal.

2003 F7 through State Farm is $150 a year with a $500 deductable. $700 is crazy for a sled!!! My 1999 Camaro SS is around that price a year with a $500 deductable, but it is considered a pleasure car as it is only driving at night or on the weekends.

i have my proxr under homeowners its around 210 a year and i don't insur the xcr 800 cuz its paid for and when the proxr is paid for i won't insur it either. i know the odds of getting into an accident are slim. but there is that chance. i know i'm gonna hear that from you guys. where i ride the worst would be i hit someone i know and we can mutually work that out with cash for damage. there could be that guy that wants to sue but hopefully he has a brain and has health insurance on himself if he gets hurt. ride alittle responsibly and your odds of an accident go way down!!!
