Also, Im not going to be able to make the race school. Hoping someone can keep me posted if anything of interest should come up.
Thanks.

Here's something of interest. Just announced this afternoon
All Polaris '08 600 Racers are cancelled. Your Cashiers check will not be returned. Polaris has filed Chapter 11 and us racers are left holding the bag.
No delervies now or ever.
I am pretty disappointed.
hahaha
Got ya

I understand the production run was completed on wednesday.
Shipping will begin immediately. Some dealers should start seeing sleds show up middle of next week. Like always your dealer will know nothing about delivery and when yours will show up because they are not listed as a normal consumer sled is listed in the delivery process. One day the truck will show up at the dealer with lots of sleds and a few Racers will be on it.
I understand the 600RR production has already started or will start tomorrow. I'ts kind of a big deal as Polaris has asked some of the suppliers to come to the production facility to be part of the production run, like a cerimonial thing or something.
Exciting news, the new buggies should start showing up soon, almost 2 weeks earlier than normal.

Yep, thats what I was told on Thursday. I was told the Racer had just completed production and the RR would begin within a day. So to me that ment the RR production would begin either Friday or Saturday. This was not official and not directly from anyone at Polaris but from someone fairly close to the scene.
And to answer your question about steering updates on the RR. I think the RR will steer and turn pretty good just like it comes from the factory. If you would like to lighten up the steering just a little you could try the -1" spindles from Power Addiction. Overall I think the RR will be pretty well set up right out of the box but I am sure there will be lots of folks tuning them up to make them run and handle better. I don't think the '08 RR will need the modified steering linkage like what is offered on the '08 Racer, but thats just my feelings.

So who on this forum actually ordered one of these sleds? What did you pay for it.? They are coming with PERC, any other changes?
I waned one really bad, but at $13200 CDN,plus taxes forget it. Now with the CDN dollar worth more than the USD it would be good to know what the dealers in the states are selling these sled for.
I bought an 07 440 in the spring instead. Was going to put my 600 morotr from my PROX in it but have decided to run the 440 with the 92 octane kit. The way I figure this machine will run fast enough except for on the lakes.

I know of two sold in Ontario, one is mine. And yes very expensive, but what isn't ? If they would of put electric start on them they would be priced similar to all the other sleds with the same options. I paid 12,000 for mine, including delivery, pdi, studs, hand guards and mid. windshield.
As far as US pricing, In Michigan 9400.00 pdi, delivery and taxes included.

Just an update on the Shipping Date on the 600 Racer. Polaris is waiting on the final paperwork to come back from the EPA. This sled is EPA compliant and as such requires final approval from the EPA before thay can be shipped to dealers and racers across the country.
Polaris expects to get this approval early next week and will be shipping them out immediately after that.
The fuel tank is 4.6 to 4.8 gallons, clear (opaque) in color, not black.
The steering changes have been discussed on several threads here in the past month or so.. Basically there is an extra link and small rack between the steering post and the tie rods. This extra link reduces steering effort and also provides a shock absorbing mechanism so hard impacts are not transferred directly back to the large heim joint on the bottom of the steering post. There is no Shock Absorber, just the extra linkage keeps the loads from being transferred directly back into the heim joint. These additional parts can be added to the RR and previous IQ racers but as of yet there is no kit available and the parts are not yet available. IMO these are not needed on the RR and only needed on the earlier IQ's if you plan to race them. IQ's are a little hard to steer but nothing compared to the '04 ProXr 440 racer, now that buggy steered hard. And to make another observation there are literally Dozens of differences between the '08 Racer and the '08 RR. They have been discussed in detail, most recently in the Parts Fisch thread posted a few weeks back but also in several threads all the way back to July.

600RR production is complete (the consumer version for the one or two of us who are still confused). Sleds are being crated and waiting for final approval before delivery. Most dealers are expecting shipping to begin about 10/22 with deliveries starting 10/26.
Note: just because your dealer doesn't show anything available in the Poo Dealer Only Parts Fisch doesn't mean a whole lot.

Can you tell me more about the last note? I called polaris direct and they told me the pipe for the 600rr will not be available until Mid Dec. many of us want them for 440-600 conversions as you probably already know. Where can I find the info on other pipes, single or dual, availalbe and does anyone make one that looks nice too?

The last part of my post means..... The Polaris, Dealer Only Parts Inventory site is not updated with part numbers, prices or availability for the 600RR or the 600Racer. The Parts Manual is not yet available but the Race manual is. Some accessories for the RR are available but as of yet most of the parts are Not Available unless they were the same part as a previous sled.
My dealer knows no more than your dealer. And he is likely right, Stock 600RR pipe may not be available till December, cuz thats the second time I've heard that.
You can look right here on the HCS 440 forum and find just about everything you want to know about Pipes available for the IQ Racer. I realize you are a little new here but sometimes you have to look past the first few pages to find something. Pipes for the IQ have been discussed in no less than 4 threads with 30 posts per thread in the last 4 months. Some of those threads had phone # and websites for almost every pipe builder in North America.
But let me sum it up for ya.....Break Out Your Check Book. A pipe for the IQ Race Chassis isn't cheap, and the Stocker from Polaris isn't going to be cheap either, My guess is about $750 with the Can.

One more thing about the 600RR pipe.
Some of you may be disappointed to find out the the RR will not get a cool ceramic coated pipe like the IQ racer has. It's pretty obvious by the picture in the parts fisch that it's a standard stamped steel pipe with an insulated aluminum jacket just like all other Polaris consumer sleds. It became even more obvious to me on Tuesday when one of my Pals Prox268 said he saw one at the Big East show and it had a standard pipe. The standard pipe will be great for a consumer sled...it just isn't quite as cool as a coated pipe.

Ak,
the "600RR" at the Big East show was a hodge podge of parts. It sounded like the one that was at Haydays.
Are we entirely sure the sled that was there is completely representative of what guy will receive when they get their RRs, I hope not, for their sake. The fit and finish was lousy at best, it looked to be pre enjoyed, heavily.

I also heard it looked like a hodge podge of parts.
I heard it looked like it came right from a dirty chip track then passed briefly through the Car Wash before being put on display at the show. There were a few things on that sled that basically confirm what we see on the Fisch. Huge, Turkey Cooker, Muffler. No Extroverts. Stamped Pipe with insulated jacket. Tiny Oil Tank. I'm not saying these things are bad, I'm just saying this is likely what we will be getting when we pick up the 600RR's from the dealer.
We all have to keep in mind that Polaris has specific restrictions with what it can deliver as a consumer sled. The pipe and can are likely part of those restrictions.
The parts fisch is pretty clear to me. On all the Racers the pipe is called, Pipe Tuned Silver and on the RR its called, Asm. Tuned Pipe.

It kinda looked like they took the trail to the show, dirt and all.
The can issue is all about noise and motor tuning for emissions, right? The foam under the hood helps too. The pipe looked just like the 600HO pipe on the fusion and IQ consumer sleds.
I didn't think the oil tank was super small, 1 1/2 to 2 quarts, but, maybe my memory is a little off.
I was there with a Ski Doo guy, I was embarrassed how nice the Skidoo booth was, with tons of gear and people to talk to. The Polaris booth was devoid of apparel and accessories, oh yeah and no one to talk to.

What day and time where you there? I was in the Polaris booth for the dealership I work for on Saturday evening chatting with folks. I was shocked at the sled poo brought to represent their hottest '08 (RR), it was beat on.

We were at the show from 2 - 7pm Saturday. When we were over there, no one was around. I spent a good 15min looking the sled over. You are right, it's sad that they didn't even clean the thing well. I like Polaris, I fell in love during the Grand Indy days, and it's kept with me. I'm sorry we missed you.
Let me know when you are ready for demoing, I would love to compare.

Hey Tom,

They are waiting on the "final paperwork for EPA approval to arrive". That was on Tuesday 10/16/07. They expected that paperwork by Monday 10/22/07 at the latest, but "it could be any day". I asked "so we might see them start shippig out by Wednesday the 24th." And the reply was " we surely hope so".
So, what all that means to me me is, Polaris is waiting on the EPA paperwork to be returned and they will ship the sleds out as soon as they get the Documents in their hands. Likely by mid week this next week but it all depends on getting that documentation with the EPA approval in their hands.
