If you feel that I.P. is a place you want to go to snowmobile and that Teddy Miller is getting over zealous and hurting the town, write to the selectboard, or send them the address to this forum, don't just hollar about it and take no action. This town is worth the time, its a beautiful place.

People are doing something about it, they are boycotting IP.

Do you really think the selectboard knows nothing about Teddy or his reputation? Why should I go out of my way to contact people who have shown they have no intentions of resolving the problem.

I've never been to IP and I will never go. The horror stories of Teddy, and the fact the town does nothing about it, are enough to convince me to spend my time and money somewhere else.

No offense to you, but any town that would let this go on does not deserve my money or the money of other hard working people.

Hey Chris...never say never. IP is the only gas stop on our way north! And Teddy is fine as long as you obey the law. Stop signs mean stop. I've been driving through town for 25 years and it's never been an issue.

Blah-blah-blah, I have been to I P a hundred times and NEVER been pulled over. Is he overzealous, maybe to an extent, but I have had run ins with way worse than him. I would like to see a traffic survey to see the percentage of stops versus hourly traffic. You know, I get a kick out of guys that always say that they haven't been there and never will because.....no offense, but it sounds ignorant.

think about all the idiots you see on the trails - you think they dont operate their vehicles the same way?

Sounds like IP will be a nice place to ride this year !! LET IT SNOW !!!! cop.gif

If you've never been to IP then how do you know people are boycotting it? The Brighton snowmobile club has one of the largest VAST memberships in the state. Check out IP on a Friday or Saturday night and tell us there is less foot and vehicle traffic.

Most of us stay away from the IP snowmobile trails due to the knuckle heads on the trails. I find it hard to believe those knuckle heads drive any differently on the roads.

IP and the rest of Essex County should be just perfect for riding this year. All we need is some early cold weather to solidify the ground and wet areas. Then bring on the snow!

I have to say if you have never been thier, you probably should go thier and then have an opinion, because it is a beautiful place. Maybe the selectmen know, and maybe if people started writing to them they would REALLY know. I have a business in Walden, Vermont, although I live in Island Pond, and I hate to think that people would not come to my business because they didn't like the town politics, I stay out of Walden Politics because I have a business here, I don't need to piss off the town. So as far as staying out of town, boycotting the town and the business's this is just a sad thing and IF PEOPLE are goign to put the energy into bitching about town, they may as well put a stamp on it.

Have you ever been to Compton? Have you formed an opinion (based on what you have read and heard) about whether or not you would go to Compton? A person can form an opinion of a place without ever going... we have all done it.

Look I'm being overly dramatic by saying I would never go but I was trying to make a point, IP is getting a horrible reputation because of 1 guy. Whether you want to believe it or not, people are staying away from IP and business' are losing money because of the reputation he is getting.

Are you guys telling me that you don't think teddy is doind anything wrong?

I stay away from IP on weekends because the trails close to town are terrible, you usually get stopped at the lumberyard crossing by state police checking regs and vast and most of the time you have to wait in line for gas at 1 of the 3 gas stations. Only time I would sled into town is early or mid week.

I have never heard of Compton?, but generally I haven't really formed to many negative opinions on places I haven't been, as far as contributing to the negetivity of the boycotting forum. Thats just me though.
My entire point in starting this thread was to offset the boycotting forum and give people info on letting the town know.

I've ridden IP for many years now and have never had a problem on my sled or in my truck with Teddy but we never drive through town all the way so we never go through the stop sign. I know of many and have seen many people pulled over getting their tickets. Last winter I watched two trucks get pulled over together in front of Jennifers restaurant and he had them there the whole time we ate our meal. It seemed like a long time to give out a couple of tickets for a stop sign violation. I know that this isn't a winter time only issue either. My cousin is part of a large motorcycle group that was recently planning a large fall ride up north. He showed me an e-mail that he had received from the group warning that they shouldn't ride through IP due to issues with none other than TEDDY!! I won't "boycott" Island Pond at this point but there does seem to be a problem that I would think the town fathers would be a little concerned about.

Compton is a city in California that is generally used as the poster child for gang ridden ghettos.

It's o.k we all have a right to express our opinions! I think if the selectmen all started getting overloaded with letters, then they would get so sick of it they would do something about it!

A person CAN form an opinion of a place without ever going...but that person shouldn't spread (or boycott) that opinion without ever going.

If you HAVE been there, and you DID have an issue with the law, then by all means, step up on that soapbox, and sound off. I'll back you up 100%.

Once again. Flood the shits with your letters and then what are they going to do?
Start something where every letter is worth...how much? How much would YOU have spent in I.P. sledding thier?
If it is $50 bucks... $100 bucks WRITE IT. When it reaches past the 200.000 he raised in tickets last year they will care...
Jerald Goupe was my nieghbor, and he has tons of land and is a super ass about sledders around his property so maybe skip him....
But if you all love I.P. that much you will participate in this Teddy Miller shit, then invest in it and send a letter....
If enough people do maybe the ATTORNEY GENERAL WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Anyone got the name and adress of the attorney general so I can add that to the list of people to send letters to?
By the way if any of you love I.P. want to relocated .... take Ted's Place.. you can buy my house on 42.4 acres!

I know that Vince Illuzi took it upon himself to get the Animal Control Officer of Island Pond removed and succeeded in it. Mike Taylor was the Animal Control officer of I.P. he lived in a trailer with no phone on the back streets of I.p. People said if you had an animal control problem you had to catch him at the VFW. He was trigger happy and lazy and would do stuff like leave cats lying around in Have a Heart traps around his place and then just let them go wild before thier 10 days of quarentine were up. The Human Society got all kinds of complaints... and finally he got fined and lost his position. Vince Illuzi was the one that went after him, so my point is, he may definatly be someone to talk to about Teddy Miller.
Kudos to people who are putting in letters to the editor I think that is as good as giving it to the selectmen... I worked at the Cal-Rec and know that the publisher will publish every and any letter about Ted Miller.
I heard that Ted brought in 200 thous to the town last year, that really isnt' that much money. Now how much money do you think the town loses when a business goes out like Articat or Ali's outback?
Where does the town benefit from having tons of sledders and tourists? Lets fiqure it out, I don't know as much about it as I would like.
Once we figure out how much the town itself (not the business's) is losing in revenue, we start sending that to the letters to editor.

William Sorrell is the Vermont Attorney General in Montpelier.

Ali's didn't go out of business due to Ted. That restaurant was always busy. Kingdom Cat has business issues with Arctic, etc.

You seem to have it a little backwards it is up to townies to convince the selectboard to change this issue. It is up to the outa towners to stay away if Ted is running rabid.
I have been to IP many times but why spend your money there if there is some ass just ready to make any mistake somebody does cost them big bucks.
DO NOT GO TO IP YOU MAY GET A TICKET EVEN IF YOU DID EVERYTHING BY THE BOOK!

I agree with this guy...the Select Board has a responsibility to those who reside in Island Pond, as locals elect the board to make decisions on their behalf. I have lived in Vermont most of my life and Island Pond's constable is trouble; the flood of newspaper articles, letters, forum complaints, battles in traffic court, and personal stories SCREAM that fact. This guy pulls the oldest most obsolete and unobserved laws out of his ass and uses them on law abiding, money spending, honest tourists and locals...it doesn't matter he will mess with anyone. Quite often the traffic stops are ridiculous and unfounded. He has caused MANY people from ever wanting to go to (or back to) Island Pond, to visit or to live. If all the town cares about it "Teddy" bringing in revenue then he is certainly doing that, as the numbers are also ridiculous and again SCREAM that there is something really wrong in Island Pond...but if the town cares about the success and reputation of their town then they need to reevaluate what is going on and they need to contact their Select Board...as for the rest of us...we need to just stay away! That is what everyone I know does, what I tell everyone who asks! STAY AWAY FROM ISLAND POND...if you have not been a victim yet...it is just a matter of time. I guarantee it!
