Just wondering where the $ is coming from to do the grooming this summer? Anyone know?
trbomax
That money comes from the orv trail permit fund, just like snowmobiles. I have heard that some clubs take it upon themselves to do it,they generally use a small grooming drag,4' wide and pull it with a compact 4wd tractor.

A am guessing that the trials you are talking about are the ones on the east side of M-37 up by club 37.
those trails are groomed by the DNR, there is no atv club in lake county. those trails are groomed year round by the dnr.
usally those are the smoothest trails in the county.

they usally hit them once a week in the summer and 3 times or so in the winter. they groom from the southern trail head, up to club 37, east to Carrieville and the lincoln hills loop.

Yea, we came on the groomer in the Lincoln hills loop and notice the trails East of the club have been groomed, Five or six years ago we rode the Carrieville trails a lot and at that time they were not groomed and I liked them better. I ride on two wheels so flat trails with 6" of sand is not much fun but if I have a 4-wheeler that may be different.

The groomer looked just like the one they used for snow.

The Irons Area Tourist Assn. does the grooming FOR the DNR. That is why the trails around here have gotten WAY better in the last few years. By grooming them year round, the trails are in great shape when it gets cold and the ground freezes more evenly.

Thanks! I have groomed over on the Little Manistee/Carrieville/Club 37 in the winter but not in the summer. I usually get put out in BFE to groom.

we used to ride those back when we had wheelers, my wife liked riding on the smooth wide trails better than tight stuff. the best part of that loop and area is that there is a lot of off trial stuff around there that you can get to from that trail.
