I have a 05 yammi 150 outboard, jw what you guys do for winter storage, been snowing for a week or so, and river was freezing up so I decided to get off my lazy ass and get my boat towed up. Last year I drained all the gas, unhooked the battery and covered 'er up. Its stored outside....

Get out the muffs, fog oil,and stabil. Normally put the stabil or seafoam in the tank and hook up the muffs to the motor and run it for about 5min. Then hook up a chunk of garden hose to the muffs you can put a funnel in and dump antifreeze in it while the motors running until it comes out the pisser, then (if carburated) hit them with fogging oil until she kills and store. If its fuel injected just pull the plugs out and spray a little fog oil down each cyl and turn it over a couple times and put the plugs back in.

I have a 2005 150 Merc. I dont mess with it, the dealer charges me 100 bucks to do it and any issues in spring are on them. But, if your doing it yourself, I agree with the above post but don't forget about changing the lower unit oil.
I store indoors, remove seats and all other items and shrink wrap as well.

If it is a DFI or EFI you do not fog it. Just run gas stabilizer through it. Put a bag over the prop and tape it so water does not get in and freeze. Technically O/B do not have to be winterized. They do not hold water when the motoer is down unloke a I/O or inboard.

Im a marine tech and i would listen to the first guy, and really you dont need to run antifreeze it self drains unless it will make you sleep better at night. later

Tis true they are supposed to be self draining but I just find it as cheap insurance. Motors arn't cheap any more.

yamaha mechanic here also we find the best thing to do is make a mixture of marvel mystery oil, startron, gas stabilizer and hook it right to the fuel line / primerbulb 2stroke or 4 we use this on all you dont need antrifreeze to go throuh the motor but use fresh water to flush out grease all zurk fittings, grease shiftercables on engine, take prop off wd40 the spline re grease do the same on the steering n rotate the wheel change the gear oil ,here in the north east we have a problem with ethanol in the fuel the startron is great stuff, plenty off stabilizer in the fuel, eiter remove your batteries and keep warm or you could trickle charge them in the boat but you may take a chance on freezing id take them out put cover back on slap cowling while drinking a beer and say see you in the spring big guy cheers jeff

Drain and fill lower unit oil, pull prop make sure no fishing line behind thrust washer. I also like to run a mixture of fog and stabilizer etc on a seperate tank and grease all fittings cables etc. at least disconect the battery, but triclke charge would be best.
