Took about two hours to install (with many beer and smoke breaks)

I ordered the painted and got the non-Not sure why but I'm not the only one who has gotten them this way. They mount on the inside so I put the unpainted on anyway. FYI, if they did mount on the outside the unpianted would look pretty cool

Was gonna post a pic but look like HCS is still screwed up.

I posted this in another thread - Painted versus non-painted - Standard versus sno-pro
Its all in the RIVETS ONLY - Thats the difference
Incase anyone is interested
From Arcticchat
These are the 4639-900 (the 901's are painted)
They fit inside the tunnel with a little over 90 degree bend that fit the tunnel nicely.
They use the two bottom rear rivets of the outside tunnel support where the front arm of the skid mounts and go nearly the length of the tunnel to the skid rear mount.
Those part #s for the standard versus sno-pro
The supports themselves are all unpainted - Natural aluminum finish on both part #s
The difference is in the color of the rivets to attach - Yes the supports come in a box with rivets and directions
Standards get the black painted steel rivets and aluminum supports - 4639-901
Sno-pros get the zinc coated steel rivets to match the outside of tunnel and aluminum supports - 4639-900
I just picked up the box for my wifes Crossfire - Directions pointed out the difference in rivets between the sno-pro and standard
And hear i thought the supports were supposed to bee painted black to match the standard sleds - My bad - That was the initial thought when these first came out

Arcticle - Arctic Cat
Q: I have a 2007 Crossfire 1000 with 1,400 miles on it. Love the sled's ride and all-around performance. I was replacing the bad power valve cable and noticed my tunnel was BENT at the foot wells. I am 54 and just trail ride and never do any jumping. Is Cat aware of this problem, as others have complained about this over and over on the Internet? Is this a warranty issue? Do you have an updated bracket for this? - AmSnow.com member Mike Walters
A: Depending on the type of bump you hit, coupled with the low snow conditions, you do not have to be jumping to cause damage to your sled. Arctic Cat offers a tunnel bracket kit (Part No. 4639-900 for the SnoPro models and No. 4639-901 for standard models). This is listed in the May 2007, Vol. 2, Issue 20 of the Arctic Cat ShopTalk (dealer service publication). If your track drivers are not bent and there are no obvious signs of abuse, your dealer should take care of you, and Arctic Cat will cover this during your warranty period. For added strength and insurance after your warranty has expired, it's a good idea to order these brackets to prevent damage to your sled. For 2008 sleds, we have added strengthening ribs and reinforcement brackets in conjunction with other changes made to strengthen the running boards without adding weight.

My tunnel is in & my dealer plans in installing it next week.I allready have the long angle brackets & my dealer is going to install them as well. I was hoping the new tunnel was the 2008 but it the same 07 tunnel. My dealer said when talking to Cat that only 2% bent. I really believe there is alot more than that that bent. My 06 X-Fire has just a small tweek at the footwell & we are going to just add the brackets to help keep it from getting any worse.
I was suprised to see both of my complaints in AM Snow. I am please Arctic Cat is repairing it but wished it was the updated tunnel. To make a die to stamp the 08 is not just chump change and also means Cat is going keep the X-Fire a few more years

Little tip for anyone doing the braces.
I bought a swivel head rivet gun from Sears that worked like a charm........using my other rivet gun(also sears professional) the nuts on the sides of the gun scratched the tunnel when I installed the rivet.
Other than that it's a nice litle piece of mine and looks totally stock, just a few extra rivet heads showing!

So was this given to Crossfire owners or no? Buddy just bought a left over 06 700 Xfire and need to do something. Just want to know if this is something that the dealer should be doing to the sled before we pick it up.

I've spent about an hour searching and I can't find what Im looking for so here it goes:
I just bought a 2006 Xfire 700 2 days ago. Im aware of this tunnel issue and want to get the supports on asap.
Can someone tell me the following:
1. Is No. 4639-901 for standard models the correct part to order?
2. Do you have to drop the track etc to get these installed?
3. How much do you think it would cost at a dealer?
4. I don't own nor have I ever operated a rivet gun.
5. In all honesty for the average person is dealer install recommended or is it pretty easy?
Thanks in advance guys and I am sorry if this has already been covered....

Hi, I had a dealer install mine and paid shop rate over the parts. However, I helped a friend install them on an 07 800 standard and the job took about an hour with the two of us. Neither of us are overly mechanicly inclined. You do not have to pull your track, but taking the skid out makes the job alot easier. The biggest help was that my pal bought an air rivetter to use off of his compressor. Find a friend with a compressor and buy him the air rivetter tool in exchange for using his compressor, well worth the money. The A/C kit comes with good instructions, just follow them. There are two (or three) existing rivets that you have to drill out to start and there are correspondingly larger rivets in the kit that fit in these holes, watch for them. The rest are all of a size. The job can be done with a hand rivetter but will be lots harder. The rivets that you drill out for the supports act as template for positioning the supports for the rest of the holes and rivets. Good luck!

You can do it with the skid in if you have a right angle drill or a long extension for the drill bit and a regular drill. We used both when we did my buddies sled. You can reach right through the skid with a long extension. We just used a regular hand riviter, taking turns. It really gives the forearms a workout. Make sure that after you drill all the holes to clean off the running boards and the braces good. You want good contact between the two.

I just put some of these on my sled, you can actually feel a difference. It was a very nice support, I had a semi-crappy rivet gun so my knuckles got a little busted up. I would recommend a pneumatic rivet gun if you can get access to one.
I know this is kind of obvious, and i knew it wasn't the greatest idea, but don't hang your sled by the rear grab bar, it will start pulling the screws from the tunnel. I had my dad "helping" me, and he's the type of guy where it's better to just do what he says than argue with him. So he had me hang the sled from the ceiling of the garage using a rope tied to the grab bar, as time went on, the grab bar managed to pull through partly... not all the way, but enough to piss me off.
So when you're putting these in, don't do that. Should be an obvious thing, but now you have reason not to try it!

I dont think so? The Firecat's already have some fairly sturdy tunnels with supports. Atleast my 05 Sno Pro does.

Just like to add some info:
After not being able to get a straight answer on this from 3 dealers I finally spoke to a guy at Artic Cat HQ in service.
He said they will cover the Tunnel Supports and Labor if the tunnel is already bent and under warranty.
If the tunnel is not bent and you just want to take preventive action your on your own for cost. (PISS)
I talked to him for about 20mins and he said if you ride the UP or N. Wisconsin on weekends when there are rollers he definitely recommended them.
I also asked him about the TSL issue and adding bigger bogie wheels and he didn't think it was necessary. He said you may just get some paint wear and that is it.
Regarding studding he recommended only studding the inside. 113 is what he recommended.
You guys may already know all this but I though I'd pass it on.

I also talked to someone at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls in the Quality Department, who gave me the same information. Bent Tunnel under warranty will get the Reinforcements paid for, if you are doing it as a precautionary step its on your nickel. If you are an aggressive rider its probably a good idea.
BTW, the gentleman I talked to was really nice. We chatted for 10 minutes and talked about the industry and what was going on. Good to see Arctic Cat folks are genuinely interested in what's happening out their.
