lookin at a brand new left over 900 rmk 159". with all the horror stories of these so called "confusions" is it worth doing the "fixes". and just what are the fixes?
i happened to try a "fixed" 05 900 rmk last year in wyoming. WOW. the power was pretty insane and he had it canned so it sounded sick. but the vibration was killer. will isovibe eliminate most of this? i have the isovibe on my cat now (love it).
i am not a fan of polaris (owned 4 of em over the years) but with a price of $8200.00 CDN OTD price on a brand new 900 mountain sled + full warranty........im REALLY thinking about it.
feed back needed!
thanks in advance

Great had two 05 900 166'' sleds with all the SLP work done and rode the crap out of them. Just put the SLP torque arms on it and vent the crap out of it. Also many other mods you can do if you search around that will not set you back much cash and will realy help it loose the weight as well.

had a fusion
it was ok
but
don't pay that much for it
i wouldn't pay over 7000 for it
it may be a good one
but
it may be a bad one
you are taking all the risk
so you should get the best price
it was around 12,500 new
take away 1000 a year for 4 years for age
now you need to take away a minimum $1500 for the lemon risk
just my opinion

you think that $8200.00 out the door is too much? i think the sled is going for 7500 bucks. hmmmm.

no, not too much
it is a fair price
but
should you pay "just" a fair price for the risk? (of a lemon)
don't get me wrong
i snowchecked mine, put 5000 miles on it, and got creamed on the trade
because of the bad rap
so i think YOU should get a great price(for the bad rap)
all 4 dealers in my area(each of them is a 2 hour drive away)
used the bad rap to kill my trade in
so right now (before you pull the trigger) you have the power,
as soon as it is yours , they have the power
i hope you get a good one
(mine was just ok, it ran like a good 700)

shit man. where our dollar sits right now, you can run across the boarder and buy a new mountain sled for cheap. i would just make that jog across the boarder. and you will be soo much happier with an 08 dragon 800 (if you run across in december). it has a whole lot more on it, and for the price... ther is no comparison

i hear ya loud and clear. i just figured this was a smoking deal on a brand new sled with full warranty......even though it had its probs. i tried one of these sleds out and it blew me away. i mean it had crazy power and was pretty nimble. i sno checked the new nytro mtx in april and had to cancel due to curtailments at the plant i work at. i thought i was a gonner, but with no union, i was able to stay. so now im looking again. then again im not into first year models too much, so i think i will either wait till next year or buy that fusion now........hmmmmm.
thanks for the input guys.

I'd say go for it. Besides the heavy steering, I absolutely love my 05 900. I have over 2,000 miles on it without 1 failure that wasn't my fault. I don't notice the vibrations that many talk about.. I don't know if it's because I'm used to it or not. I can say they were there my first weekend ride after buying the sled. I found after a few hours my hands going numb however 1,500 miles later I don't notice it nor do my hands ever get tingly or numb.
I do have to say though that I think $8,200 is a bit high for this sled. Granted mine isn't a RMK but I got mine for $6,700 almost 1 1/2 years ago (March 2006). Add another 1 1/2 of age regardless of whether it is brand new and then add some $$ for the RMK. I'd say low $7,000's would be a fair deal. Make sure you get the 3 yr warranty.

im talking canadian funds. we get ripped up here. the sled new was around $13,000.00 give or take. when i sno checked the nytro this year, the dealer gave me a bit of a deal ($12,200+tax) it came out round 13,800.00. see what im saying? and its not as if the fusion is out dated....it IS the IQ with some fixes.... man you guys are sure making this hard! lol. i was really thinking about dropping the money down this week! hahaha.
thanks again for the input...much appreciated.

If that's the case (Canadian), I'd personally say go for it. I would however plan on a couple of upgrades that in my opinion are mandatory.
1) Get rid of the stock intake and go with a SLP, Fire & Ice, or Dubs intake.
2) Get Compfusion (snowest.com) motor mounts.
3) Get the 3211115 belts
4) Regear it (optional)
With options 1-3, it will take care of just about every issue with the sled....

the motor mounts would be first choice
if not
then at least an slp torque stop and push
mine was real good on belts till deep snow riding, then i could smell it going
i didn't, but the intake might help with the heat
i have some weights springs and belts, pm me if you go for it
82 , i guess is really only 7200 plus the 14% tax, give or take a few bucks
is it 1 or 3 year warranty?
that is the price of a new shift,
you got enough snow over in wawa land for a mountain?
just kidding

just remember when you clutch it that you need to lug that thing down. I did mtx weights and kept adding weight till it chugged and then backed off and I am happy with it. Think mine ended up at 79 gram but I ride 0-4000'. 66-44-.46 and some have gone steaper. Think my primary ended up at 220/140 most do the almond, secondary was red/pink. Mine is right at 7750 (slp pipe and can). You need to get them to shift faster in order to load engine down. I had over 80 grams but it would still spin 7950-8000, not until I went to a couple of trials of softer springs did it come together. And gearing ratio of 2.10-2.20 was also where I went also 19/43 does not make the engine work to hard, found that out when I tried a 2.10 ratio that the sled got quicker but dealer said I could with the 1115 belt, the 1080 would start to get hot after a 1/8 mile poll.

ya 14%,
6 federal
8 provincial (you guys call it state)
it is bad enough, but when ya think of the msrp in canada it is mind boggeling
my 07 venture touring was $12,899 list
i snowchecked a deal $12, 600 (ya i know, but i was trading in a fusion)
a buddy bought a 06 , just over the border, for $6999. spring clearance
he got it to canada for $9200, with the dollar and import fee
a diff of $3400.
mind you mine is a year newer, (worth what a grand??)
now it is even worse with our dollar stronger than U.S. dollar
don't get me started

i have heard of people going to dealerships and saying "this vehical is this price down in the states, can you match the price because i dont want to have to go there if i dont have to" and sometimes the dealer sells it to them for that price, and you get the warrenty.
i have only heard of this happaning to automotive dealerships. dont know if it would work at a sled dealer.

but wouldnt that be nice! man we are getting the shaft. i wonder if i just wait a year, it'll even out some. i mean it has too. no one is going to buy here when you can get it for THOUSANDS less acroos the border. shit...im starting to get mad again.

there are 2 guys in town who just got new vehicals. new dodge ram 1500 hemi. and the other got a new Sierra 1500.
the guy with the hemi went to the dealer and said the he could get this truck for $$$$ less in the states, but he would much rather do business at there place. the dealer siad that he could knock off a few thousand. it didnt reach the big $$$$ difference that he could have saved in the states, but it was preatty damn close. like i am talking about a $1000 difference.
same goes for the guy who just got the new sierra, but he told them that he wants a better deal here because he could get the same truck in the states for way cheeper and he wouldnt care to go down there and get it, but if they could match the price really closely than he could do it up.
the Daimler-Chrilser here is a local place where everybody knows everybody, so lots of people get fairly resonable prices on the trucks they purchase there.
the price might drop alot in canada. maybe when manufactures are confidant that the dollar will stay at bar, than they might drop the prices.
