DRIFTHOPPER and ARTICCATGALZL01

We will be arriving very close to the opening on Friday or shortly after.

Last year we got there early and had to find some place close to eat. We ended up at a little place beside the oncenter and down the road a bit. Cant remember the name of the place but it was not very good.

Can anyone recommend a good Restaurant within walking distance of the oncenter.

I cant thing of many decent places within walking distance from the Oncenter. If you want decent food try going over to Armory Square is about 3-4 miles from the OnCenter. At least there you have a few choices. Pastabilities has good Italian food. PJ Dorseys if you want bar food. Ambrosia for Sushi. Clarks Ale House has great roast beef sandwiches. The pizza shop across from Dorsey's sucks IMO so stay away from there.

I'm not too familar with the area, but so far everyone has mentioned Dinosaurs for BBQ. I would try there. I have no idea where it is. I don't think that it is walking distance from the oncenter. We plan on being there around 7ish or so I think.

Last year was our first time to that area. The area around the oncenter seems to be dead as far as restaurants go. We walked around a bit and could not find anything we were familiar with. This year we will have the kids and I would like to find a restaurant like a Kelseys or outback or something like that. Some place were we know what to expect.
ACG
Did you guys want to meet at a specific booth at a certain time? (Miniture HCS greet) I don't have a HCS shirt yet so we'd have to plan to meet at a spot.
Jim Morabito
The Dino is great but not walking distance. Expect a LONG wait for a table. I'll be at our booth, RU Outside, with the custom HCS hat (thanks Sled Solutions). Mention HCS and I'll do my very best for you, as always.

WRONG...Unless you are grossly obese or on crutches the Dinosaur is an easy walk from the OnCenter...can't be 8 blocks...I mean we are talking downtown Syracuse here not NYC

To find those kind of Restaurants you need to drive east on Erie Blvd East (Rte 5) keep driving and you'll find them all...or go to the Carousel Mall

I`m planning on friday evening
182ray
Wife and I will be there Friday PM then over to the Fairgrounds Sat & Sun for Super Dirt Week
We have eaten at Kitty Hoynes 301 W. Fayette St Armory Sq. 315-424-1974 in the past and it been great. It's an Irish Pub
Jim Morabito
Sorry, Saberman. You are correct. Having lived in NYC for many years walking to work from 14th street to 6th Ave between 64th and 65th I assumed only NY City people walked over two blocks.

its a few min drive from dino. you could get on 690 and get off 2-3 exits later. dont think it would save any time. but preferably i wouldnt walk. i was just at dino this past sunday (9-30) and waited for about an hour, maybe a little longer and we got there around 4-430. ended up sitting outside which wasnt bad but just wore t-shirts. got a little chilly.

p.s. when is it, this comming weekend?

Ok, you will have to fill me in on the article. I dont remember seeing any article in snowgoer that was related to the show.

But, yes I am planning my attack, shopping list has been put together as well as the whole weekends events. Not sure if the rest of the family knows what there in for. Not true, they will be looking for a way out after the first hour.
Drifthopper
Family doesn't know what they're in for..eh... they'll be carring all your stuff!!! LOL.

The article is in the latest issue. Just basically how to get the most from sled shows and swap meets. It says to bring a map and as you go thru mark down what ya see and price, then come back to the cheapest guy.

Well, I should of been the author of that article. I been being doing that for years. I have a comprehensive list of what I need and what I am willing to pay for it. This way I dont leave until I have exactly what I went for.

The deals I got last year on the items that wear out should be very close to the same. Oils, wear bars, belts, sliders, trailer tires are all good buys at this show as well as clothing and helmets. The selection and inventory is large.

LOL, I've got picture directions, remember? I'll be there a little earlier than 4:00. I was meaning to ask one of you guys, do you have bad traffic at that time of day? I know around here we've got school buses to contend with.

When I went last year it is very close to the Hiway so you will not have to worry about the school buses. If you plan on going down the 20A then maybe you will get buses. We are leaving at 8:30 in the morning making a stop at the Montazuma wildlife thing. Reason, if the kids are bad I will leave them there. If time after that we will be stopping at the Bass Pro in Auburn.

Lime green, hope that colour looks good on you, usually women can get away with it. Most guys wearing lime green look ridiculous.

PB...........Your on your own...i'll bring an extra key, you can make as many trips to the car as you want. grinning-smiley-023.gif

longspur....8;00 too late??...the doors don't open till 5;00....what, you gonna run thru the show and be out'a there in less then 3 hrs..???

AC...no bus traffic to worry about....from exit 52 to the parking lot....maybe 8 - 10 minutes max...and that's if ya get stuck at the lights.

And others.....i just suggested the Ski-doo display cuz there's a post on DooTalk similar to this one here and no one on DT posted a time and place either so that's why i suggested Ski doo at 8....but it don't matter to me,,,don't look to me to plan this meetin' place....when ever....where ever.....(just not the beer garden..(if they have one.???) cuz ya know will never get out'a there...LOL)
