i just picked up a 79 invader 440, its got a decent seat, good track alright hood and a seized motor.
although not only is it seized it also is seized without cylynders, it had a new comet put on a week before it blew, the guy was gunna pay somone to rebuild it and the guy got it all ripped apart and decided he couldnt do it, so its sat in a barn for the last 10ish years.

ive got a mono head ltd engine lined up i want to put in it with the carbs off the original engine if there not to far gone, i would just have to buy new jets for the carbs because there set up for the invader and probably all solid. i would really like to make this this a crossfire stomper cause my buddies got one and thiks hes king sh!t with it, is this possible, and what type of work would i be looking at above just dropin the new motor in it.

i also want to put in new supention, some ifs and somthing else just to make this thing kick ass, i want it to be different than anything else out there and fast, and i know just dropping an ltd engine in an invader aint gunna do this anone....

any ideas, and does anyone happen to know off had the stock jetting for the engine.

thanks

The engine swap will require that you cut off the recoil side frame/ engine mounts and reweld them to accept the 4 plug motor. the single spark plug engine has the engine mount plate sandwiched between the engine base and the flywheel casing , where the 4 plug has the mounting plate sandwiched between the flywheel casing and the recoil housing.( a couple of inches wider). As far as carbs go, go find a set of 38 mm vm mikunis, they work pretty good and get decent fuel mileage, The flat slide 38's are responsive but bad on fuel. I used the throttle cable from a '89 polaris 500.
If you planning on using the single pipe exhaust, you will have to cut the "y" pipe as the flange bolt holes are indexed wrong. I used a "y" pipe from a "89 500 with the flanges cut and indexed for the straight up and down flange bolt pattern.

must only be the newer ltd 4plug engines that need the frame modified because my 80 ltd didnt need nothing done to it, actually and invader chasis.

im on kawitrax already, as eric phazer

My crew chief has a couple of old invader engines. few actually! One at least that is fully race ported and another built for nitrous. Could ask him if he's interested in selling it all if your interested. Also have a set of Aaen pipes.

As for beating a crossfire with it.... that's a tall order. You could maybe get him on bare ice if you have the right studs ( woody's wedges hook great for trailable studs). Eventually he would go by you though.
