Well it was as to be expected for the first year.

Small crowd at the opening which was nice. Yes, pretty much everything there was related to snowmobiling except for one or two vendors.

Oh ya an ATV and an outboard motor what the.

You will see all the new sleds for sure. I believe there was lots to see from all manufacturers.

Next year I hope there will be many more vendors as this is where this show was really hurting.

All the maps were there from all districts.

Dont expect to buy too much when there as the supply and selection of vendors is poor.

Overall this show is worth going to and will hopefully get much bigger into its second year.
revrnd1
How was the Quebec presence? We're looking for info on the Noranda/Amos area. Usually @ the Int'l show there are several PQ regions in attendence.

Yes the Quebec people were in attendance, maps, info etc.

They had one booth but several people there to answer questions.
Vetterman
There was 1 booth from quebec handing out their main provincial map and some other tourism books and such, also a booth for new brunswick.

Getting all the maps was the main thing for me - and seeing all the new sleds. Not much else for vendors, but then again after seeing the Amsoil girls I was kinda distracted and likely walked past 3 or 4 booths that might of had something interesting there as well.

Was in and out in under 2 hours, but all I really wanted was to look at sleds and get maps.

Yes, I really liked the girl with the tattoos around her waist area. I think I too got 3 or 4 stickers as well.
revrnd1
Sounds good. Mind you tomorrow will be busier & will probably run into folks we know.
fluffy
Unless you need maps, just head to your dealers showroom.......

I know it was the first year, but it really did not offer much...

Regardless, I am a sled head and I could not stay away.

It was nice that all the districts were jammed into a single isle so I could get my maps within 10 minutes.

Spent about 45 minutes and saw & touched everything (expect the AMSOIL girls).
Red Rocket
How is the selection of sleds and apparel from the Manufacturers?? I know my local dealers don't stock a great selection on the floor - nor do I want to go to 4 separate brand dealers to see them all. Heck I think I will be able to spend 45 minutes trying to bend something on a REV XP - DOH!!

I will keep an eye peeled for the Amsoil girls!!

I hope there is lodging info available in the district areas as I have some trip planning I need to get figured out.

Did anyone take in any of the "Seminars" or presentations??

Floorplan, Daily Presentations/Seminars and Vendor list attached.

You will be disappointed at the low number of tourist related booths.

As far as clothing goes that too is very limited current and non current but they do have stuff from all the big 4 just not really any deals.

Klim is there and he is willing to sell his stuff at USA prices.

Just was no stand out deals on anything I seen.

Hopefully the guys and gals staffing the district booths will be able to assist on tourism info for their districts.

Mostly interested in seeing the manufacture stuff - better than seeing it in an accessory catelogue.

I see Klim and Choko are there and have heard great things about their product and will take a look. I also see Altimate boots is there. I am in the market for boots and like their stuff.

I have yet to see either the REV XP or Yamaha Nytro FX in person. Looking forward to seeing them up close.

Well if thats what you are looking for you will go away happy.

As far as clothing goes I have never heard anyone complain about KLIM products. KLIM is a higher end product than CHOKO for sure.

Have a good time.

I wonder if the tourism shortage is because the last few years haven't been great in Ontario, so their marketing budgets have been cut? Maybe some are taking a wait & see attitude about the new show.

Spending 4 days in T.O. is not a cheap proposition.

Thanks - just trying to prevent problems. As I sit here and monitor this thread I find it hilarious that 3 members have literally been on it for an hour. What is strange is all three of them are either advertisers in OSM, writers for the OSM magazine, vendors at the OSM show, or their friends.

You guys will have ample opportunity to discuss the show you have a financial interest in soon enough.

Just so you know the hours of the show are:

10-7 Saturday
10-5 Sunday

Any helmet deals?
Brent will Doo
Not that I seen , I forget the vendor( snow city ) but they had a small stack of the BV2S helmets on sale for I think $249.00 . I dont know if that is a deal or not. Not even sure what model year it was. They had the most Ski Doo product available for sale.

Being the first year of the show its hard to know whats a good buy because each vendor really had no competion and I did not carry the new catolog with me for price comparison.

Studboy had there products on sale at 15 to 20% off list pricing

Yes there was stuff to buy but not an overwhelming selection of product. If you look at the vendor list and they have product your interested in then you would be able to get it. This show would drive a bargain hunter crazy because it is still in the toddler stage. Next year get the vendors in and this show is here to stay.

I will make this show an annual event for sure.

Spoke with Rick ( from USI ) today from the show who mentioned the attendance was low. Just a heads up, they've had some problems with their "SS Railer" mold machine. We sold a ton of these sleds last year after our own radar success and Rick's attendance and testing at the Mach Z Shootout, they'll do everything they can for us as Canadian supplier but Rick thinks it could be into the new year before they get full production running again.

XP pipes have hit a bit of a snag as stampings are late coming into SPI
MACH Z 1000 pipes are to be on the way to us, and of course all D&D Cat products are in stock , readily available at this time

Prices on our site, for the most part reflect Canadian Money at Par, and there's FREE shipping on a number of popular products

Well, I managed to sneak in this afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Here is my take on the show.

It was not overly busy, but it was also 1:00 p.m. on a friday, which is still a work day for most.
It was $12.00 to get in, which I think is peanuts. 2 beers at most places.

All 4 manu's were there, with pretty much every model of interest. I'm a die hard Poo guy, liked the sleds, think they look awesome, but nowhere near enough suits, I think there was 6 in total, plus around 10 helmets, not enough...

I think the most impressive "display" was Yamaha's, they had a tonne of sleds, and tonnes of gear to go with them. Arctic Cat's was also very well put together.

I spent some time with the Triton Trailer guy, liked their product, 11ft trailer with the ramp/door, nice unit.

Didn't catch any of the demonstrations, but did manage to get all my maps, and talk to various District Club people, which was nice.
Spent some time chatting with some district volunteers in areas I didn't even know we had trails...., again, something to think about if I ever decide to broaden my riding areas.

I didn't spend any time looking for deals on products as my agenda was to see the new iron, browse, and get my maps.

For me, the show served perfectly for my agenda, but that's for me.

I'm betting there will be many dissapointed with it as it was pretty small, but I think they stuck to their agenda, so they've accomplished what they set out to do.

What I did like was not having to walk through 3 halls to get to something I'd want to see. I liked that it was all in one room, easy to get around, and had what I needed.

I would suggest it's pretty much like the other show, minus all the "filler", and non sled related product.

Enjoy boys.

Yes it is what I expected. But keep in mind I was just going to get all the trail maps and pay for my permits.

I did a good look around in about 1 hour and then a retrace for about 1/2 hour. I drove 1.5 hours and was satisfied. To drive 2.5 hours I dont know. To see new sleds its there, trail maps its there, lots of stuff to buy its 30% there.

After this evening I am sure there will be other opinions.

Would I go next year, yes.

So you don't want a pissin match but you are ready to bring something like that up. Don't confuse logged in with simply being part of something that I enjoy. I said a long time ago I am off this kick and I stick to it. To each his own. There are people commenting on their thought of the OFSC show who were involved in our silly pissing match before and I find interest in their thoughts and views. If it is a snowmobiling show then I find myself interested. Shouldn't a moderator be a little bit more subtle and non confrontational? I am not able to go to this show because of other commitments, I kinda wanted too but can't, so I will not comment on things I don't know about. Enjoy your weekend at the show.

Well just got back from the OFSC show.
I was a bit disappointed in the size of the show but, I got a smokin deal on boots, helmet and some real leather and sheep skin mits. Spent about 350 bucks and think I saved that much off the reg. retail price of what I got. The BV2S helmuts were 250 and I paid 600 for one when they first came out.
There were a few ATVs and boat motors at the show but, IMO, 98% of the show was sled related and for that I am happy.

As far a size goes, IMO, it seemed to only be as big as the main Hall (Hall #1) at the Kehoe’s Power Sports Show and there certainly were not as many vendors but all the districts and OEMs were there along with some name brand company’s like LeBarron, Choko, Kilm etc.
It was nice to be able to get all the district maps and just sled stuff in a couple of hrs.

I didn’t see a Phaser MT lite like was hoping to but I think every other OEM model was there and some of the dealers had a few good show specials on some left over 07 iron.

IMO, the OFSC didn’t step up to the plate very well with this show as far as vendors goes and is going to have to doo something about that if it wants to keep running a show of there own.

I just got home from the show. One thing that no one on here has mentioned is the test track out front. It was closed for a few hours because of the rain, but was open just before I left. I took the new Phazer for a couple spins around the track and was very impressed. It may be the next sled on the wish list. The vendor #'s were a little shy as was attendance, but I'm sure both will grow in time as the show gains credibility. Saturday should be a busier day. The goals that were set out for the show are being met and it would have been unrealistic to see the show the size of OSM's in its first year. I talked to some folks that were new to snowmobiling and I think they were getting some good info. on how to get started. I was looking for a new pair of gloves for myself and found the Choko booth to get some info on them. I normally don't publically support one brand over another, but have to say that this company has impressed me. Free jackets for every OFSC club president to promote Team OFSC. Now that's volunteer recognition. I'll be back on Sunday to work in the district two booth and hope to see everyone there.
Nutter
Just got in from the show, my take on it is ............. for a first year kick at the can it was great, and it supports our sport 100%

A little thin in the vendors, but it'll grow next year with out a doubt. Having all the districts and clubs represented buy club volunteers was great, not only did I get their maps but was able to shoot the breeze find out about their events, and get first hand information about their area and club ....... stuff I was intrested in.

Met up with bunch of old and new sledding buds and HCS members, had a few pints out on the patio with the boys, and checked out all the new iron. Since I'm going to be down there all weekend I didn't check out any of the seminars (but I'll be sure to check a few out tomorrow after we head down after we finish trail work) and on Sunday again before I man the district 3 booth.

Best part was, I wasn't even there 5 min and the people maning our district booth for the day handed me a name and phone # for a guy who's intrested in volunteering with our club thumbsup.png

This is what it's all about folks, information about sledding in Ontario on OFSC trails, and sledding in other provinces ........... a show all about sledding thumbsup.png

Big thanks to all those volunteers who did a bang up job on opening day beer_cheers.gif

Red Rocket you are waste of pants.
For all the time you spend on here do something better with it

Dean:

Does that mean I can't drop my shocks off at your place again??

I enjoy spending my time volunteering here - but thanks for your kind words.

Enjoy your booth at the OSM show.

Cheers.

I will enjoy my booth at the OSM show and have every year that I have been there.

Save the shipping costs and bring your shocks when you come to the show.

Went with my buddy and were there when it first opened this morning. Wish I had brought my daughter, as it wasn't a crowd fight like the other show. It is definately thinner in the vendor area than that other show, but that is to be expected for its first year. That said, I can honestly say there is nothing I wanted to see, that I didn't get the chance too. All in all I enjoyed it, and am glad the $$ is going back to the OFSC. Don't personally see any reason to attend the other show for me.
