Your right, the Edge is my normal trail sled, but late last march I bought the 2000 XCR for $1300, then this summer I ported it, cut the heads, bored the carbs, & installed a new track and studs, and well, pretty much rebuilt the whole sled, so I may sell the 2000 after I try it out, did some pretty wild porting so I want to run it a few times.

Holy Cow, looks like a plumbing nightmare. How do you like the NOS on it, I tried that some years ago, replaced too many pistons for my likeing, might try a turbo in the future, just not sure yet,--I looked at building a 2700 CC 4 cylinder for the XCR body, and that's still a thought, but I already have belt issues, seems they don't like 300 HP coming on too fast.

Yes it is an edge style hood on a GenII chassis. It is made by Mountain Fit hoods. It has an extra 2" rise. I needed the clearance for plumbing under the hood. Glad to see someone has a sharp eye. Glenn

I know what you mean by the 300hp thing. I can rip a new belt in half in 3 passes. Still working on my clutching. As far as the Nitrous goes we love it. My son knows to watch the egt gauges. As you know we run the lectrons and a little turn of the screw will richen us right up. We used the NX kit. It is more work to install than a lot of the others but it is real consistent. We are changing things again this year. Different pipes, bigger carbs, and possibly a progressive controller for the nitrous.

Good luck with the new changes. What size carbs are you going to, I run 52's in the XC & 54's, in the XCR, I bored the stock 800 XCR carbs to 41.3 MM for the 2000 XCR.

Don, I have 48mm Lectrons on the way. I also have Jaws pipes on the bench waiting to be welded together. The sled has the watercraft base with 3 XC 800 cylinders. That comes out to 1191cc. Have you ever dynoed Lectron verses crankshop carbs?

Ever come up with a way to make the belts last longer? I've come up with several, and am talking to a shop which may develop some shaft support devices to keep the secondary shafts from being pulled toward the primary, I'll keep everyone posted on what I find out.

Please talk to Madcow! He gears up to prevent too much low end torque being applied to the track! Just Kidding MC.

BTW, saw two 300 hp RX-1/Apex turbo custom chassis ice drag sleds with nitrous destroy a couple of really fast nitrous drag sleds at Phatman last weekend. Belts seem to last fine on all of them. 1.20 sec 60ft times. High 4 secs and 140 mph in 660. Chassis flex coupled with short belts (1080) may be the culprit in these heavy trail type sleds Don. The BIL has an Edge chassised 1000 and it too has had a lot of belt breakage issues. In fact, the belt rolled right over in the clutches at the drags. My higher powered 1100 had no problems.

Size for size, most carbs will show the same hp at peak rpm. However, COLD engine response is the difference in the real world. Megatrons SUPPOSEDLY have better response, but BOSWELLS are even better. I've tested them all.

I never blew a belt with my XCR 1100, but the 1253 XCR & The 1214 Edge eats a couple a day sometimes, the 1115 Polaris has held up so far on the Edge, but is fraying a little.
