Since you asked...i'd sell it or maybe retire it...putting the 580 monoblock back in it and wait till it becomes of vintage status. In the meantime pick up a newer sled with better suspension.

Such as? You said you didn't have any money to spend, so sort of hard to suggest anything, going fast is expensive.

Don't buy a quad...now with that $1000 and all the money saved from not buying a quad...you'll be able to afford a nice sled. beer_cheers.gif

In no particular order:

1. Disassemble and port right on the ragged edge of premium fuel. +25 hp. weld crank pins while you're at it.
2. Re clutch for the different power
3. Track
4. Studs
5. Plastic Skis
6. Suspension, front and rear
7. 5" gauge pod of '97 or '98 xc
8. Ape hanger bars
9. tunnel grips
10. High rise seat.
11. and on and on...
You'd probably spend all winter trying to find good deals on all of this stuff, and end up breaking the 1K limit anyway. Then you would end up with something like an XC 700. Believe me... I have way too much $$$ into an XLT that will and has melted down from my brother putting 87 in the tank. If it were mine I would ride it the way it is, and keep it for a friends sled. take the 1K and put it towards an ultra, xcr, or storm base sled so that the sky will be the limit on mods (price cyls, 250 HP!!!)

Not sure what the ski stance on the 93 chassis was, but one of the biggest improvements i made with my old 89 650(still my favorite sled of all time) was to install the cross country widening kit, had a 42" stance when I was done. Also had fox shocks up front/rear, C&A ski's, welded on some custom bars, another big improvement was ditching the brake handle/master cylinder for the newer bigger style. There are very few, if any sleds that could hang a flat corner like my old 650 would, thing was a riot until you threw some bumps into the mix. An xtra 10 rear is a huge improvement as well. Keep the stock pipe close by, I always liked mine so much better with the single, very finicky with the trips, and 9400 rpms isn't for the faint of heart. Good move chucking the the mono block for the older 650, way better engine imho. Mine is still going today, 10K miles and half its life was piped. 125 psi across all 3 still.
