Personally i'm a chevy guy but don't rule out a ford, theres plenty out there and they are more reliable than the dodge of that era. I was leafing through one fo those cars for sale magazines you get at the grocery store the other day and there was a ton of trucks in that price range and years.

I dont really have anything against ford just not a big ford guy just dont like them for some reason like I found a few good deals but just didn't want them I just don't like ford.

You are definitly right about the dodges not being reliable but they seem to have a very low value up here so you can usually get like a 2000-2001 for like 8 grand or less good luck picking up a chevy or a gmc for that price.

Forgot to mention

Please no strip downs

and also looking for 1/2 tons only I have no need for a 3/4+ ton

A friend of mine has a 2001 Dodge Extended Cab, 4x4 360 auto. It has a new tranny, and runs good. 100,000 miles, all white with chrome here and there. I know he's looking at something newer, so if you're interested I'll get some pics.

The undercarriage of this truck has less rust on it than my 04 f150. He bought the truck in Virginia when he was in the military, and recently moved up here. Let me know......

Just be careful buying a used dodge. They are cheaper then everything else for a reason. We have a '99 dodge here at work and no joke it is falling apart. It has so many issues (including major rust on lower doors) shop has told me it won't pass inspection this coming year without serious dollars poured into it. We have Fords and GM trucks of same vintage treated/maintained in the exact same way that are still mechanically excellent.

You always get what you pay for, an $8000 GM or Ford is gonna outlast a $8000 dodge even if Dodge is a couple years newer.

This Dodge is in great shape. He was going to trade it in, and the dealerships mechanics called it an 8 out of a 10. Not to shabby. Still waiting for the pics..( my friend has my camera )
