Anybody know of anything that the deer will eat but turkeys won't? (Not sure that there is such a thing) Every damn time the thing goes off the turkeys line up and stay until every last kernel of corn is gone leaving nothing for the deer. I watched a big hen drive a forkhorn away last night! They seem to be getting more aggresive. Mike

LOL, Yea right guys I was looking for something alittle more realistic than going out and shooting upwards of 80 turkeys a day to keep them off my feeder!! lame1.gif

I myself think wild turkeys are pretty damn tasty!

I bet if you kept the food off the ground (trough style) the deer would still feed and the turkeys wouldn't be such a problem. What about sticking to beats, apples, carrots?? You could always set up the spreader in an area you don't deer hunt just to keep the turkeys away since they aren't leaving anything for the deer anyways. Worst case scenario is you have a bunch of fat corn fed birds..... sounds good to me! Are you hunting in turkey unit Q by any chance?

Yep We tried the trough last yr. up about 3' off ground and they still got up on it to feed! wall.gif We also use carrots and beets, but for as much as we feed $ is too high. We don't hunt over bait, feeders are in the middle of woods (Santuary) that receives little human pressure. I think that in a few yrs. the damn turkeys are going to become a big problem due to overpopulation. Mich DNR need to increase the # of birds that can be taken, similar to the private land Doe hunt I hunt in unit X Mike

try C4 then, you wont have no more turkey problem, allready cooked and cleaned by time they hit the ground

Are wild turkeys as smart as other wild birds? Why not try shooting just one turkey then hanging it upside down(dead of course) from the feeder?Maybe the rest will get the idea it'd not a great place to hang around.

Just my opinion.
