i was wondering what kind of issues would arise from putting a 700 or 800 HO or VES engine in a 2006 iq chassis. i would prefer to run oil injection as the sled is being converted to trail ride. if you gotta notch the bulkhead and that to fit the 700 or 800 what kind of power are you guys making with the 660 kit, where can you buy one/get one built, and how much do they cost.

thanks guys, lots of deadly info

We need to Pin another topic.

"Big Block into your IQ Chassis"

Who's going to write it???

My vote is gpxsrx...as long as he turns his CAPS LOCK BUTTON OFF. j/k

There are several folks who have done this recently but there is no single thread for all the info, we need to start one.

I have done a 800 in the IQ and to be honest the power and fun factor of the 660 would be a better choice and that is the way i would go again. The torque and power of the 7 or 8 is fun but parts as far as mounting and so on is hard to find and not as available as they were in 05 when they were allowed to run 800 mods.

To do's in the 8
-space engine up 1.5"
-find pipes, racing twins will be hard to find and a single will have to be made or found.
-Stock lights wont work with twins pipes
-Notch bulkhead for oil injection
Steeing hoop for big block
-steering post for big block
-Move clutch guard for room for primary
-tourque stops have to be fabbed for the front, rear torque stop is a prox can be used.
- Oil injection bottle has to be mounted somewhere, i went above brakes with old plaris bottle.
-K&N filters with angle to clear jackshaft.

i have lots of pics but dont really have the time to post them all right now. Its a lot of work but can be done in a weekend but the longest thing will be getting all the parts lined up and ready.

As for the 600 or 660, they are close in power, not torque but not bad either. They are more of a drop in and ride motor.
-The 6 can use the 440 straps,
-pipes will be available through slp this year,
-air box can be used.
-Stock headlight can be used.
etc, etc, etc.

it is much easier and cost effective to do the 660 or 600 in my opinion, and it will be lighter and the engine will be lower in the chassis making it handle much better. these are all things i have noticed between the two and i would do a 600 again if i had the opportunity. Hope this helps.

I was going to mention you HYFLYR but I thought you were playing Pro Ball in Argentina or something???

Good Post if we can fill in all the blanks this should be Pinned at the top.

I am dropping in a union bay 900 based off of the poo 800 bottom. You don't have to raise the motor. You can simply buy a motor plate from Brad at power addictions. This drops onto the current motor mounts and allows you to add 2 extra. I did this, this way you don't need a bent stearing post or to curve your support bar on the pto side. You do need to cut out the cross bar in the bulk head and lower it. If you are running oil inj, you do need to notch the bulkhead on the mag side. If you are trail riding this you will likely have no issues with the notch. You will need someone to build custom pipes for this though. If you want twins they can be cut and welded by a builder or if you run a single neils power pipes makes a good pipe. Personally I want all the power I can get.

Ohh ya forgot, I am running headlights with my setup. With the plate you don't have to move your clutch guard and with the extra mounts you really only need the pto side torque arm, if you are crafty you could fab a push arm for the mag. Just redrill the pto rear mount and you are good to go. I will take pics of my setup next weekend when I pick it up from flannery.

I was going to mention Brad from power addiction but i had time issues yesteday when i was posting. Anyway, brad does make a very good plate for dropping the motor lower in the chassis but again more cutting and welding is needed to make it all work. If you want the power and torque that the big blocks are capable of then it is so worth the time and money to squeeze the 800 and bigger motors in there. If you dont have all the tools and time or money, a small block mod will be just as fun and less hassle to assemble and ride. Its really up to what the rider wants, both can be done and at a price and time. Both rock and you cant go wrong. IMO, the IQR is the best chassis on the snow as of right now so whatever motor you have in it will be a blast as long as it doesnt go boom!!!

Now if i can sqeeze a nytro motor with a front mount turbo in one i will be in heaven. Brad story put a rx1 motor and turbo in one so i know it can be done but at what price i will have to pay is the question.

is there a difference between the 99 xc 600motor and a 800 big block is just different top end?

PRETTY SURE 98-99 THE 600 & 700 WERE BIG BLOCKS MEANING IF I AM RIGHT THE 99 600 XC HAD SAME BOTTOM END AS 700 AND CONTINUE ON IN PRODUCTION TO THE 800 IN 2000 NON VES TWIN FIRST YEAR. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE WATER PUMP NECK THAT IS CURVED UP VERSUS DOWN ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE USING BRAD WURSTNS PLATE. I THINK YOU WILL BE FINE WITH WATER PUMP NECK AND BOTTOM END BOLTING UP. MY 98-99 AND 2000 700 MOTORS ALL BOLT TO HIS PLATES AND ARE SAME. 600 & 700 ALL HAD SAME BOTTOM END FOR IN 98-99. HOPE THIS HELPS
