I've finished this summers project. 2000 XCR 800 with an edge skid stretched to 136" with tracks USA kit. Motor is a fresh Flannery ported 800 with the standard HTG pipes, Hot seat heads, VF reeds, etc. Sled even has reverse. Now I can compare the ride of the edge skid in the Gen 2 vs. the XCR motor in the edge chassis.

Looks nice, How many studs are in there?

Are you planning on moving that rear stop back a little? Most ride like a truck, very limited weight transfer in that front hole.......

After 2 seasons of dinking around with everything, I ended up mounting that rear stop block in place of the top front rail extension bolt. Sag set correctly for your weight, block set there, clicker on 1 works great in the chop. Works so well it's hard to believe actually. Suspension uses full travel frequently, a lot like the M-10, but with lots(!) of transfer. Just start stiffening the clicker enough to stop bottoming when it gets rough. Started using the clicker enough to make it worth the trouble of turning it around for MUCH easier access. Jerry at JBshocks did it for me, have pictures if you like. Not difficult or expensive, especially at rebuild time.

Set as above, you'll likely see that the stock front is very stiff compared to the back. You'll soon start messing around there too....... FWIW -Al

EDIT: Just thought of something. My link is set in the rear hole. If it were in the middle (stock) hole, or the front, not sure it could reach the block set as above. Moving link to rear hole will likely help you out too though. Helps keep the front end down among other things.

holy shit your right thats 6 per row and a standard 121 is 44 rows so on a standard track that would be 264... im guessing hes over 300

awesome sled thought glad to see people actually sticking the the triples

probably doing a pro-x conversion on my sled after this season

Alsled...LOTS of studs....LOL. I purchased the track used and already studded. The low miles and even lower price made it worth it despite the number of studs. I may remove some in the future.

Michahicks- Yup, the rear suspension will likely get some tuning before it hits the snow...and then more after that. I've got a longtrack setup in my edge chassis and it does ride pretty good with some tuning. I've already noticed a lack of ski pressure.
odie
Now thats sweet.Did you extend the tunnel protectors to the tunnel extension? I have the edge susp. in my 136" XCR800 and the studs are prone to getting into the extension. Hate to see that extension turn into cheese.

Looking fine man..

Odie,
I had some stud rub marks when it wa sa xtra 10, no issues since the edge. Have protection in there now.

Ultra, very sharp looking!

WOW - sure nice looking sled. Are you going to bring her up at the Ohio SNO-BASH next weekend? I'll be seeing you there. WL.
UltraGN
Thanks for the compliments.

Odie- I didn't extend protectors into the tunnel extension. I had some marks on a Gen 2 X-tra-10 longtrack, but on the edge skids, I haven't had a problem. I'll keep an eye on it.

Mike- It might make the trip to the .bash. I'm probably going to get rid of one of the XCR's, since I'm getting interested in the vintage stuff and am running out of room...LOL. See you there.

looking good keep a close eye on extension drag raced mine it was fine but trail rideing it hit.

Looks great!

I'm doing the same thing, I already have the track, and a set of Mountain Machines extensions that allow me to run 8" wheels in the back.

Where did you get the tunnel extension and the skirts? That looks nice, and those are the only things I need to get going on mine.

Make sure the MMP Kit will work for ya.. I tried the MMP Kit on my Edge-XCR and the rail ext's where too short not allowing for track adjustment..

I hope that's not the case....mine is the XCR with the edge skid. Not sure if that matters or not.

Edge skid to 136 is an edge to 136.. should not matter.. they wanted me to move the suspension back in the tunnel for the fix..

I told them to send my $$ back and I'll send the kit back..

The extension is Polaris SKS or RMK...I can't remember. The tunnel skirts are also RMK. Part #'s 5432563 and 5432562 (covers). The fit real nice.

Thats a beauty!!! I've always had a thing for those XCR's... Very nice job!

edit: that track looks like a rolling porcupine!

Looks great Kev!

Hey Kevin,

Looks great! It may be a tough call deciding which sled to sell!!!

I think I have a line on the vintage stuff you are looking for - I'll call you soon!

Looking good. That's a lot of studs. Ice will be the last problem you'll deal with.

Sorry about the double post. a local problem. Getting my hammer out!

You guys running the Edge skids in your Gen 2 chassis, does the Edge skid rob the sled of speed. I know that the Gen 2 chassis is probably the most efficient chassis that Polaris has ever built for speed, but that is with the Extra 10 skid. Your thoughts.
michahicks
My '00 XCR, even with the 136", will still crack into the 3 digit range under most any conditions. What more can you ask for? The Xtra-10 was near useless to me for any kind of serious trail work. The Edge suspension was a breath of new life for my machine because prior to the conversion, the sled was on it's way out the door.
gbaronetXCR
Big Fuse,
Did not notice any scrub.. . Running around with the GPs in my my pocket seen the teens many times this year.

Agreed, nicest upgrade to the old girl as it always had lots of mustard.
