No real probelm,
Phone the US side of the border about 3 days prior and let them know you are coming through. I did not do this and had no problems but some have said if you dont do this you might get hung up there for a while.
Next make sure you have a title or registration for the Can. side with a bill of sale. Do not bullshit them about the price as it is not worht saving a couple of bucks. Trust me I know this from experience and they are sneaky bastards now with the internet checking for sleds prices.
You will pay the GST only at the border along with a RIV fee cant remember if its $190 or $290 but its one of those. This is for the Registrar of Imported vehicles that everybody pays. Once you get back to Canada you need to get a couple of things ready. One you need to proof that all recall work has been completed on your sled or that there was none to begin with. Send a request to the manufacturer for this. BRP came back pretty quick for mine about 2 weeks. You will get paper work from the RIV in the mail after a few weeks and you need to take the sled to Canadian tire for an RIV inspection for certification that your sled meets Can. safety standards., thats what the recall cleareance is for. This does not cost you anything as it is covered in the $190 bucks you paid at the border. This is a bullshit inspection as they could not care less and only chekced mine for a brake light and killswitch. Of course that may be because ski-doo is made in Canada.but any way should be n.o problem.
After that just take it to get it registered at the DMV and pay your PST and your done.
Good Luck,
BC
