it's this time of year i miss my girls the most, sammy and shasha. four years gone now.
some of the best bird dogs anyone has ever seen. the money and time i spent training them and myself was priceless.
english pointers from jim walker kennels of michigan. one of the top 10 breeders in the country. i wish i had the time to train a new set of girls.
they were sisters from the same parents two years apart. i bread the younger (blond) one once before the snipping. she had seven pups and sold for 2-2500 bucks apiece. when the breeders bitch died he wanted and tried very hard to buy her before she was cut but, settled for two of the pups.
one of the high points was when i was talked into taking them too compete once (which i'm against) at a near by club. samantha was the second dog to run that morning and due to their reputation i was getting razzed pretty good for a false point just outside the marked field. i knew sammy had a wild bird locked, so i came up and fired the blank gun and a bird flushed. she was so smart that she knew the gun was a fake and looked back at me sighed and laid down on her front paws and wimpered as it flow into the woods. i had several real good offers for my girls after that.
my girls took 2nd sammy and shasha 4th place out of 53 dogs that were entered. i won a 410 remmie shot gun and much respect with many offers to hunt.
sorry for the crummy pic but, it's the only digital one i have. late pheasent season with two ringers and three grouse. i just hope they haven't chewwed the tail feathers off all the birds in the happy hunting grounds before i get there.
