US Honda dealers are very strict about not selling to Canadians.. He could buy a used one no problem.

Buying vehicles out of the states is significantly cheaper but they've now made it illegal to buy 2008's.

some brands will not allow you to buy in the US, like BRP or lexus for instance, the company protects their Canadian dealers, but other brands will allow it, Ford and Yamaha for another example. I just purchased a 2008 F350 Lariat in the states, at a significant savings, but to get it back into Canada, I have to get it inspected and approved for Canada, this will be no problem as the US and Canada have very similar standards, its just the hoops you have to jump through to do it which is a bit of a hassle. Also just some minor modifications like the speedometer and some other minor issues, also if you need warranty work, it has to be taken the the USA, Canadian dealers will not honor the US warranty. I also bought a Yamaha quad down there about 8 months ago, again very similar, you just have to put in some extra effort and paperwork to get it licensed and registered in Canada, but overall I have probly saved about $14,000 so its well worth it.

It is not "illegal" to buy down here. The bone of contention is a theft deterrent feature known as an immoblizer that Ca. requires and U.S. doesn't. If vehicle is built prior to 9-1-07 the requirement is not needed. Check with your registrar because changes are made quite frequently on what can and what can't cross.

as for the FORD is made in USA so I think you wouldnt have to pay a tax, or do you because its over 2500 dollers, but as for yammy its made in Japan so you have to pay duty tax on that, isnt that right?>???

I had to pay the GST on both to get them to Canada, if I brought the yamaha from japan directly to canada then yeah I would have had to pay some duties and such, but I believe since it was bought from the states, that duty was already paid by the US dealer, so I just had to pay the GST and some other minor "fees"
