I am new to vasa this summer. So far I've only ridden on Champlain Valley Explorers trails which is a whopping 2-3 miles of trails.

I'm also new to vasa this year and sheffield is a great place to ride. I'm ridding a 2007 grizzly 660 love it good choice glad I made it. I was recently up for the holiday weekend at the familys place in sheffield and I averaged 55miles a day 190miles on quads almost thought I was sledding. We rode south to danville, and north to glover plus every trail and class 4 rode in between. Forgot how nice vermont is in the summer so used to the snow, but ill be using my quad more now. Thanks vasa keep up the good work well worth the $73.00 Ride on ylsuper.gif

I am also A VASA member in Essex county. The amount of trails we have is staggering now, the top of the world club has done an amazing job getting landowners permission to ride. I am close to 1000 miles this summer and I havent scratched the surface yet, (although a lot of those miles are the town roads as they are all open to ATV's where I am. Its so nice to be able to ride somewhere legally, Its almost as much fun as snowmobiling, but so much warmer. I wouldnt want to live without ATV riding in the summer in Vermont!!
Snow Dawg
Are the trails around Birdseye open? I had though the owner did not give permission for the ATV's to ride there any longer.

Can you contact me sometime? I ride in western mass, but would love to see what kind of legal riding is available up in VT.

Yes as far as I know the trails are open. The West Rutland Club has been doing a lot of work out there this past summer. The club might have maps of the trails. Check there web site. clicky Hope this helps.

Why Yes, I am a proud A.T.V. rider, President of the Reading All-Terrain Sportsmen Club,
and B.O.D. member of V.A.S.A. Welcome to the sport!!!!

Did any of you ride the trails in Reading on the day of the cook-out ??

We have over 30 miles of trail and over 110 members, not bad for only our 4th year as a club.

DUHNIS,

Does your club have a web site? I live in chester and would love to check out your trail system, are the trails located in the colby pond area? Where do you register the ATV's? Thanks for any info.!

Any more Vt riders? Also, post your favorite riding pic from the atv season.

Hi All,
Sorry that i haven't replied sooner, but life has gotten in the way.
The R.A.T.S. club doesn't have a website, we use the Reading town website or the V.A.S.A. site to inform people.
Yes , We do have trails in the Colby pond area, But DO NOT park at the fishing access, as you will get a ticket. The club parking lot is on the Brown School house road.
To join the R.A.T.S. you can get signed up at Ludlow Napa or Exit 9 Arctic Cat, or Robbins sled shop in Windsor, or call me and I will do it at my house, but I am rarely home.
The memberships have been picked up for the year and the new '08 riding season passes will go on sale after Jan. 1st. Trails open June 1st to Dec. 14th.
Thanks for your interest!!

I also ride out of my house in the NEK in Morgan. It's all on private property, but I understand that the club in Island Pond is trying to connect to Morgan. Should be fun if they can make it work!

I ride from my place in Newport Center. Not sure what total milage of trail system is but it may be upwards of 50 miles plus the dirt roads where allowed. There is a good mixture of trails roads rocks mud. There is also food and gas access from the system.

Most of the V.A.S.A. trails are closed for hunting season , but as with our cub, some are open . Check with the local contact person that's listed on the V.A.S.A. map before heading out. Our riding season is from June 1st to Dec. 14th.

I just bought a place at the top of the state in Westfield. I've only ridden for a few weekends but the trails seem great. We averaged 75 miles/day for a weekend. We had a blast!

I've got tons of pictures. As soon as I figure out how to post them I will.

As for Birdseye Mt. this year 2008, a VASA club is being organized exclusive to Birdseye Mt. and the surrounding lands. The West Rutland club no longer has that land to handle.
It has 800+ acres of riding and new trails being added. There will be an atv campground in the near future. For more info e-mail birdseyeatvclub@aol.com

what's up with this? is this a good thing? i met the owner of that property a while back, at that time he wasn't sure what he was going to do with it. I offered to help with trail mapping and such but never heard from him.
i just sent them an email to see about joining.

Thanks for the e-mail Dave. Now you know what it's all about and isn't it exciting? The owner loves that Mountain and wanted to be sure others cared enough to preserve the beauty of all it has to offer.

It will be well organized this time and yes we will welcome help with the mapping and trail work. It's going to be a big task and a great time.

Where do you access these trails from? By looking at the map, it almost looks like you connect right by Grabowski's house.

I spoke with the owner today and am willing to help out as much as possible with this project! it should make for a great experience.
Can Am-Doo rider

Actually it's quite a ways from Grabowski's and isn't open as snowmobile trails. The VASA atv Trail Head is on the west Birdseye Rd. The near future atv campground is on old Rte. 4, the old Birdseye ski area/campground. You have to be a VASA member and member of an atv club to ride these trails.

Good info. I'm thinking about becoming a member this year.

I heard that Birdseye Ski will be reopening....
