Hi, anybody out there have the correct paint codes for a 74 chaparral ssx? The orange colored one. Also.. Anybody out there know who can recover one of the blow molded seats and make it look good on one of these sleds? thanks Kevin

What color is it now? I used to own one that was a silver/gray metallic with a brown belly pan. I sold it at the White Star sled auction in Bronson. It was a fast 440 with minimal suspension. If you need N.O.S. parts PM me and I can get you info on a guy in Cedar Springs, MI called the Chapparal Corral.

Hi Thanks for the replies. Al, I know I've been on the site, need to look around, LOL
Steve, it is an ugly brown color hood and belly, I have bought a few things from the corral at least 15 years ago though.. The only thing I would seriously think about buying right now nos is the seat... I don't think there are any left. I have talked to Bud ( I have his # Thanks) and Ron.. I have parted probably 25 chaps so should have most parts at this point. Thanks again. Kevin

No prob. Good luck on the seat. Mine was functional, but had cracks and splits all over. Are you still running the stock double pump carbs. Mine were and worked good but were terible on gas milage.

I worked with guy that wrenched at a Chap dealer back in the day. He told me some of the perfomance tricks they did like swapping the carbs for round slides and running a different belt that road better in the stock clutches. Most was obvious stuff, but still cool to here from someone who was hands on and not just hear say handed down from a guy who knew a guy and so on.

Yep, I used to have a very mint 74 ssx that had some customizing done to it. I bouhgt it from and used to work for the guy an old chap dealer.. It had one heat exchanger taken out out for weight savings. It had the mikuni round slide carbs, a comet clutch, a set of drag pipes--very very loud.. Supposedly there were only 6 sets of these in MI. I still couldn't get it over 85 mph in a radr run though. Kevin
