I am considering a 1.25 in track for my 03 PROX700.

I ride mostly trails. Do any of you with 1.25 in tracks have probs with hyfax heating and or sticking on really hard pack? Also opinions on the every 3rd window closed as opposed to a all open window track?

The dealer has a 1.25 camo predator with the all open window design. I know these are a little heavier but it would seem to me that the open wondows will be better at lubing the hyfax with snow?

I was forced to put a new sneaker on my '02 700 this year due to some premature chord failures. Let me first say that the best deals on Earth are at Tracksusa.com. I bought my 1.25 Camoplast Ripsaw for $389 delivered to my door. I put it in myself in about 3.5 hours.
I love the traction! Hooking up on groomed trails is improved quite a bit. I don't notice any premature Hyfax wear but I am running a bit higher on the temp gauge when there is no fresh snow and the trail is hardpack. You have an '03 with the extra cooler, so you may not see this effect (not to mention you don't have a temp gauge unless you put one on like I did).
The Ripsaw is supposed to have better lateral grip becaue of the angled slits in the paddles.. I can't say that this is true.
I won't stud it because I'm worried about studs that long being easy to tear out. I have already had two instances that have reminded me of this decision. If you're used to riding with studs, keep this in mind. imo.gif

:beerchug: Put a 1.25 Ripsaw on my ultra and love the way she hooks up. Haven't seen any premature hyfax wear yet. One thing i found out after installing the ripsaw was that the openings in the track is narrower than the sliders--which means removing the skid to replace the hyfaxes. But on the other hand not as many openings and narrower--might mean holding the snow inside the track and more lubrication???? dunno.gif Bought mine for 359.00 ylsuper.gif

What they said, RIPSAW! they rule for traction.....there's one going on my sled too soon! good luck with it.....

I put a polaris 5411487 on mine this past fall,I love it! Its a 1.25 lug but WAY more agressive then the preditior! you will loose about 8 mph on the topend but traction on the trail is second to none! I studed it with 96 down the center only with woody's dubble backer to prevent pull outs. They work good I have a few broken studs but no pull outs! I geared my xc-8 down one tooth ,with this track I have enough traction to pull the skis up on hard pack at speeds under 25 mph. I can post a picture if you would like.

Like stated above go with the ripsaw. I have about 1300 miles on mine this year and love it. I'm also running 192 studs so hooking up is no problem. I got mine from richmotorsports.com cheaper then the prices above.I noticed I have one stud that has a slight bend in it. Other then that they look good.

If your going to stud consider 1". If not 1.25's are nice.

The only bad thing about the 1.25" track is that your buddies will be constantly complaining about all the snow/ice your kicking up. The way i see it, if they can pass me, they won't have the probem. Seriously, the 1.25" track does a great job of hooking up, I love it. I ended up putting 96 1.325" Woody's with no real problem so far. I actually broke three in the first 20 miles (i think i hit a rock) but haven't even bent one in the past 350 or so miles.

I went to the Camoplast 9938H 121" X 1.187 track this year and love it. In loose stuff or hard pack I kill the Polaris 1.25 track of all my friends.

This is a new track that just came out and it's trick; windowed every whole clipped with a ultralight clip everyother and the track is very light weight.
