anyone know much about these, i think i have one that is causing the engine to backfire once in a while in slow tight turns, kinda annoying, i think the cables are fine, there is no slop in the throttle lever, any thoughts on this, what am i missing, or are the switches just shot and in need of replacement????
thanks

I had a 89 and 90 Jag AFS and logged many trouble free miles. I think your problem is that you need some clearance on the throttle lever. A good rule of thumb is the thickness of a credit card of free play on the throttle. If you adjust the cable out a small amount, you problems will go away. The ignition is sensing that it thinks the carbs are freezing up and it will kill the engine.
Adjust were the throttle meets the main kill switch assembly.
Good luck

i thought the only adjustments for cable length were at the carb bases, didn't know there was one in the handlebars by the e-stop switch??

Sorry for the confusion. Adjust the GAP were the throttle meets the stop.
I can't remember if that cable had an adjuster in the middle of the cable or just at the top of the carb but the key is you need a small amount of free play in the assembly or you will have the problems you discribed.
