it's right in the service manual, i would hope you have one of those if you're planning on building your own motor?

the '96s were 580s right? great motors but completely different than the post 97 500s and 600s.
Nowadays, you will be racing against firecats, a F5 with a good fuel map will make considerably more power than any 90s era twin 600. A F6 will have 20+ hp on you if you both are "stock."
580 is 75.4bore x 65stroke 500 is 71 x 62.7 600 is 78 x 62.7

No fuel map on F5s they are carbed

+ the ZR600 are faster then the F5 9 times out of 10

might be a bit closer with 98-00 non APV 600s

The 600s have 5(non apv)-10hp(apv) over the F5

OK, you got me. I never actually had a 500. maybe a pantera back in the 8os or so. I did have EVERY style of 600cc there was. I know a F6 with simple mods puts big HP over a 600 zr. I did say fuel map, but I was thinking More Timing. On grass, stock class, 500' I'd still bet on the F5. lean them both.

ya the F6 has between 6-10 more hp then the ZR600

Short runs the F5 has a great chance of winning no doubt
