does anyone know the front shock length of the honda, yammie, suz quads..?

i found out that yammie shocks are 15 3/4". if you get "long travel" a-arms, what size shocks do those use? reason im wondering is because i want to get a honda 450 and put my float x shocks on it.

zuki 450's are 17" center to center...i think but dont hold me to this, that the long travel kits use the same shocks but have a bend in them and have more clearence.....i do know there are kits that only use elkas and stuff and for sure ar longer but plan on paying in the $$thousands$$ for them...

I know floats are sick on sleds but the 450s suspension is the best in the industry and it jumps and rides awsome. the floats would be way to stiff and would require some mounting modifications to get them to work. IMO leave it the way it is the 450r's suspension setup is sick.

its obviously not the "best in the industry". if it was no one would change it. id just revalve them also.
and polaris: they make +2 a-arms for regular shocks, and long travel +2 a-arms for 20" long shocks(i just found this out)

another reason i wanted to use them is to get long travel a-arms. you need 20" shock lengths for those and my floats are like 19"-19.5".

The 450R's stock shocks work fine, but are hardly anything to write home about. Ride a properly set up quad with Elka Elites and you'll see what I mean. As far as a-arm choices, there's many, but as far as value and quality per dollar spent goes, Houser is really hard to beat. Long travel arms WILL use the longer than stock shocks. Most riders will never need a long travel setup. Stock travel on GOOD shocks works pretty darned good. Unless you plan on racing organized MX, you could save $$$$ by buying +2+0 a-arms and having the stock shocks revalved by Derisi or another reputable shock specialist. The wider arms alone make a huge transformation on the Honda.

I got a 04 TRX 450R i i had the money i would get elka elite or the float evol x. i motocross and trail ride mine and i still got the stock suspension. its not bad but not the best. it depends on your riding type.

float x evols or elkas i also agree is the way to go

but would the float x shocks work fine? only reason im stuck on those is because i have a set. but to use those i would have to get the long travel setup. would it be a big deal to use a 19" shock, on a long travel arm made for 20" shocks?
what is the difference in the long travel setup?
what are the pro's, cons about it?
i would only be racing a very small circuit around the area, and riding tracks for fun with friends. a tiny bit of trail riding also.
im kind of thinking i should just get a +2 setup with stock shocks, but beings i have the float-x's im thinking about going the long travel route. any info would be awesome guys, thanks.

yes, but i dont know if i should go with the regular travel +2 kit, or the long travel +2 kit.
the regular travel kit is going to run me about 250$ cheaper, and use stock shocks. long travel kit is going to cost more but ill be able to use my float x's if they would be decent shocks for dirt.

not sure on the ruggedness of the floats in dirt, you can always good shock covers on...but still if i were you i would get the LT kit that uses the longer shocks, if your going to go you might as well go all the way.

ill prob just buy the lt kit and use the floats then. i talked to a couple shock people and htey said they should work as long as i ge them revalved.

it'll feel like metal bars in there haha. a friend of mine has a long travel setup on his kfx and he needs shocks so he might try my float-x's for the hell of it at a race tommorow. maybe ill see how that works. he's not sure if he's using them yet, im kind of hoping he does so i can see how the work. i told him he had to buy float guards first though haha.
