xc700_02
Hi all,

Here are my mods I have had done so far on my 02 XC700sp - Some I did and most my dealer has suggested and done (pipe, gears, clutch, holtsman kit)

SLP Big Air Kit Mod
Geared to 24-42 from 25-40 stock
Stock Pipe has been modded and retuned
MBRP trail can
144 woody's studs
6" woody's carbides
10-64g weights
Almond/Red Primary spring
Polaris 52/34 Helix
Blue/Orange Secondary spring
Holtsman ATACC kit
2" Rox Handlebar Riser
Calibrated Tach

It seems real nice in the trails - very snappy response
It still spins considerably off the line
Revs out at approx 7900-8000
My weight - 220lbs

Im looking for a few changes to do and test as I have put about 2000 miles on this setup already. Possibly in re-gearing and clutching.
How much would a 50-36 helix drop the rpms and where would I gain with 24-41 gearing? I havent had the chance to drag race anyone so Im kinda going blind right now. It seems real fast but I've got used to it already and need more dunno.gif and also seems like it can be improved in a different way. Whats your opinion on my dealers setup? ... and what do you suggest I try?

Every thing you have sounds like it should be good, except the helix. Keep the gears you have, that is a similar ratio to what the SKS used to run, and they would see 115 on the speedo. Go to a HSP36X helix, or a 50/36 progressive. The slightly less helix angle off the line will lessen spin, but will pull stronger in the mid range and top end, as it will shift out faster. I would guess the dealer put in a R49 helix if it is a 52/34, and that helix has a short steep angle to start, but does not hold it very far down the ramp.

LOOKS like a great list of add-ons! how about a nice 1.25 track it will take about 5~8mph off your topend but It will hook like a drag slick! I installed a polaris 5411484 track on my 800 this fall WOW is all I can say! hit the flipper and pull the skis up at any speed below 30 mph! It still spins some comming out of the hole but nothing like the stock .9 track with 168 studs...

Try an EPI red 150-295 or Poo almond gold 150-290. All big block dyno charts show a big drop off after 78,your better off being under than over. Make sure your limiter strap is as long asit can go and keep your ski springs soft as you can. :beerchug: i_need_snow.gif m2c.gif flag_usa.gif

Stock Pipe has been modded and retuned?

What exactly was done to your pipe? What was the reason your dealer gave for doing whatever to the pipe/ rd

Thanks for the reply's guys.....

I think I will try the helix and take it from there. Will I need to change my spring as well if I go with the HSP36X? Yes I was thinking of the 1.25 track but I wanted to get some drags in first to see how bad I am spinning.

It must be grabbing somewhat cause my ski's are in the air half the time.

racerdave, my dealer has a guy that does their mods to exhaust systems at a fairly reasonable price, that is why I went with it. I think it involved lengthening the Y pipe aswell. Im happy with it but if I would have spent a little more I would have gone with the SLP single instead.

Your blue/orange secondary spring will be fine.
